DECISION
REFERENCE
E(P)/31.01.05/7
DECISION MAKER
PUBLIC EXECUTIVE
RECORD OF THE DECISION
Oakfield Road, Altrincham – “Station Location”
(1) That the progress made so far and the draft Heads of Terms as reported, be noted.
(2) That officers be authorised to move to the Lock Out Agreement Stage with the Developer named in the
report for 6 months, having been satisfied by the ice rink and financial information provided by the
Developer.
(3) That, in order to facilitate an economically viable scheme and further the proper planning and
regeneration of this area in accordance with the Council's own aspirations and Development Plan
framework, the compulsory purchase of properties identified in the report, be pursued.
(4) That officers be authorised to investigate title and other issues and obtain further information with a
view to reporting to the Executive for a decision on the making of a compulsory purchase order.
(5) That the Head of Asset Management be authorised to proceed with the purchase of the land and
property under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, as if the Compulsory Purchase Order had
been confirmed, where prudent to do so, and following acquisition to negotiate the sale of the property.
REASONS FOR THE DECISION
All the necessary financial and legal checks have now been undertaken on the preferred partner and
deemed satisfactory so far as possible at this early stage in the negotiations. The next phase of discussions,
a Lock Out Agreement, will enable the “Station Location” Project to move forward.
The compulsory purchase of the properties identified will facilitate an economically viable scheme and
further the proper planning and regeneration of this area in accordance with the Council’s own aspirations
and Development Plan framework. However, it may be appropriate for the Council to acquire the relevant
interest in advance of making a compulsory purchase order.

Yes
But if Planet Ice build in manchester first I guess they will
get the junior set up. Don't think enough kids are playing for
two clubs to run junior set ups. Would be nice to see Alty win the race. |

From what Planet Ice have done in the past I don't think Alty has to worry about where the kids will want to play hockey or a majority of the talented seniors either.
ALTRINCHAM IS THE TRUE HOME OF ICE HOCKEY IN GREATER MANCHESTER I THINK IT WILL JUST OPEN A NEW CHAPTER IN THE HISTORY OF ICE HOCKEY IN ALTRINCHAM. I AM SURE A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE EXCITED ABOUT THE THOUGHT OF HOCKEY COMING BACK TO IT'S SPIRITUAL HOME!!
I JUST WISH THEY WOULD GET A MOVE ON!!!!!!!!!!
IT'S A SHAME GRAHAM WON'T BE AROUND TO SEE IT THOUGH. |

I wouldn't be surprised if Planet Ice end up running a new Alty rink - they were partners in one of the unsuccessful tenders last year.
And if you were building a new rink, you'd be bound to call in the 'experts'.
