| I gather Jay and Thommo were booed by some numpties last night at Deeside.
Nice to see that Jay got his first goal for Sheffield in response to that in their 4-3 win. |

yeah some people booed them. some people clapped them.
the instance i heard thommo caught tony hand awkwardly. the typical sort of check you would be aggrieved at (it just ahppened to be thommo).
i'm happy for jay that he scored although if was going to score against us i'd have been happier if it had a been a better goal!

850 was a sell out, Mark. Sheffield took quite a proportion of that.
If you want a more accurate idea of fan numbers, you'll have to wait for the next couple of games at Deeside as there's a deal on with Phoenix/Scimitars tickets for this Sunday at Ice sheffield. |

Seem to recall some newspaper article about him being asked to do laundry when with Manchester..a victim of their costcutting exercises last time round no doubt. Hope he's getting rather better treatment at Sheffield |

If I were a Phoenix fan I'd also be worried about same one or two names going on the site and being disrespectful not so much to other team's fans as to their so called fellow Phoenix supporters. |

And there is also the first indication on the thread that we need to get as many people to these road games or they will not be able to see the season out.
Also people have started posting that they are unable to travel to games for other than financial reasons but feel alienated that they will not be able to buy the patch.
Oh well we will have three tiers of fans when the rink opens know. lol |

personally i think far too much is being read into this whole patch discussion.
it's not ideal that we have to play games on the road. and to be honest it's pretty obvious that we need people to turn up at the games or the future looks bleak. let's face it if the rink was open the club would be making money. as it stands the phoenix are paying for ice time and further expenses related to this. reduced gate sizes due to extra travelling times, costs etc. income from food and drink etc going to the venues rather than into the alty pocket. neil morris is not made of money.
take a look at other teams in the league...... cardiff have no rink and have been asking for handouts from fans. they are having to pay coventry for staging a cup game and as this will more than likely reduce coventry's income from their "home" fixture the steelers are helping out. sheffield and belfast both sell merchandise at their arenas for inflated prices to make up for the fact that the arenas take a massive cut (steelers jerseys non-printed are £65 this season if bought from the arena). belfats can not provide a championship banner without the fans doing a bucket collection.
any team would be facing massive problems if they were in the same position as the phoenix. <sits back and waits for the anti-elite league stuff to start>
as for the patch - it's supposed to be a gesture. everyone has a different opinion on what the "qualifying criteria" should be but if it is supposed to be a recognition of the fans that have attended these "home" games then imo they should not go on general sale.
maybe someone will agree with me if i finish my post by saying the sooner alty opens the better

Sand - I'd find it hard to disagree with what you've put above.
However, you do fall into the usual trap of assuming you know how I or others would react to what you'd posted. |

unfortunately that's the product of reading the phoenix forum and coming on here and seeing editted versions. i'm beginning to notice differences of opinions on both forums. my sitting back awaiting.... comments are not aimed at everyone.

Sorry forgot about the normal ice hockey fan anon lol.
Also Sand as for people expressing different viewpoints on different forums.
Certain forums you are unable to say exactly what you feel without the Gestapo coming on and flaming you for being of a different viewpoint as opposed to a sheep toeing the party line.
The viewpoints are the same just on certain Elite League websites you are not as able to freely express a opinion as opposed to your own teams website. Especially when your main concern is a ice rink with a development team and juniors back in Altrinham as opposed to Elite League ice hockey

I atually don't blame the Phoenix site from doing a certain amount of policing especially since it's an official site, but sometimes it seems they target the wrong people and comments. | |
