| Still no Manchester Pheonix Forum eh?
Seems to me they don't like their own fans displeasure at the constant delays!! |

Steady on - just because the Phoenix forum is less reliable than this one despite the huge number of daily hits this site receives, does not mean an indication of impending financial disaster at the Phoenix.
Indeed you would think that (after the Phoenix's first ever sell out crowd against Sheffield Steelers at Ice Sheffield last night) there should be plenty of coins available to go in the meter at Phoenix HQ.
Finally, I'm sure that some of the Faithful are still expecting their new rink to be ready in a couple of weeks.
PS Not all the above is strictly serious. |

And just to be cynical isnt it strange that the attendance figure was releaed with a sell out against Sheffield.
Yet once the atendance dropped below 500 the attenance igures became unavailable on the game sheet |

sorry should of read near sell out as the dvd shows the pairs of empty seats on the Phoenix side of arena apparentley |

| Re: ps | November 14 2006, 8:26 PM |
PPS Probably still a sell out in fact as supposedly 250 out of 350 season ticket holders didn't attend. I'm not sure how you'd make sense of those figures. |

| Re: ps | November 14 2006, 8:30 PM |
there were a few empty seats here and there.
yes the steelers fans outnumbered us but what do you honestly expect on a cold, dark late face off in sheffield?
oh and i don't believe ice sheffield has sold out before for manchester v the steelers, the scims or any steelers cup games.
(and this phoenix fan is still hopeful - even if it is stupidly - that we will be playing at home before xmas) |

Yes but the Scimitars have had more people actually watching the game if the figure of 250 missing season ticket holders is correct.
At the end of the day it is a tragidy hat we have had to wait so long and are still left waiting for a local ice rink for Junior Ice Hockey |

i agree. but it IS happening and it WILL be done soon. not as quickly as any of us would like but.
laugh about 2007 all you guys want, you want this rink as much as we do |

'laugh about 2007 all you guys want' - careful thats generalising and assuming again
The two things I can't get my head round are why 250 out of 350 season ticket holders didn't turn up on Sunday and more importantly, two apparently successful businessmen spending millions on a new ice rink who appear to not have the foggiest idea when said rink will be finished, this two months after having exactly the same problem. |

Actually I don't particularly want the rink as it currently has nothing to offer me, but I feel sorry for juniors being forced to play off road and for skaters left without facilities. |

Aso to be extremeley cynical wasnt the original permanent ice rink planned for the town ue to be completed by 2007 beore Planet Ice and co persuaded the ouncil it could save money by haveing a temporary rink as oppsed to a permanent one.
Looks like the original time scale for a rink will be kept too at this rate |

Rick
| Re: ps | November 15 2006, 5:20 PM |
No Mark, the originally planned rink would still have been several years off. It may have been due in 07 or 08 but would have been delayed in red tape etc.
The temporary rink isn't meant to be a cheap replacement for that originally planned. Supposedly in five or however many years it is meant to be dismantled and moved elsewhere. It's just a strong suspicion that the temporary rink will become the permanent one and that a revised (cheaper) main development will go ahead next to the rink. |

Does any one know what time the revised date for the return of Junior Ice Hockey to its spiritual home is to be announced.
Looking forward to the first junior game to be played at the new ALTRINCHAM ice rink |

What's with all the back biting. We're getting a rink, we're gettin a junior system and I would think that for season 07-08 we will have a ED1 team if Nipper has any say in the matter.
Fair enough, the budgie fans shouldn't be saying 'our rink' but neither should the original hockey fans in altrincham and manchester. It's not anybodys rink, it's THE rink as it'll be the only one we have in Manchester anytime soon.
Who knows, when the new rink opens in Widnes, they may even bring back the old Liverpool Lions... I know that they would be a welcome addition to any league as it's always good to watch scousers lose.
:P

Well it looks like rain stopped play on talks concerning the annoucement on when the new estimate on opening date will be released. Appaentey swapping one crane for 2 smaller ones due to people forgetting about seasonal weather
Oh well there is always the 2007 -2008 season to look forward to for home junior fixtures.
At least we do have a junior set up playing on he road it is a shame that the juniors and parents still have to travel miles to train and play but at least these is a light at end of tunnel.
Yes I know the proffesional players who are getting paid to train and play have the same problem but have luxury of only haveing to train dureing day light hours.
(joke)PS who are the contractors for the new rink Walt Disney inc with Mickey Mouse as head foreman lol. (joke)
