ENHL 07-08

We Need ENHL

What's happening with an ENHL team out of the Ice Dome next season? Altrincham needs an amateur team besides its import team, after all Altrincham is an established ED1 Hockeytown not just a new 'pro' Hockeytown.

There are an abundance of youngish (25 year olds and below) good, skilled, local bred and trained (most by Nipper) amateur hockey players that have come through the old Altrincham junior hockey teams and the current u19s team that would love to play for an amateur hockey team out of the Ice Dome. These players are from the local area and should be able to play for a senior amateur hockey team out of their local rink and not be forced to travel 40 miles away to play the game. Come on Alty - let's have a team in tune with local demand.

At yesterdays U19 game there were players on that u19 team that have now finished their NINE year plus junior hockey years and to continue at EIHA hockey be forced to travel to Bradford, Blackburn, Flintshire or Sheffield - that shouldn't have to be. Rinks up and down the country schedule in either ENHL and Elite or ENHL and EPL plus Junior Development so why not Alty?

We are doing our best to get a team but ice time seems to be stumbling block, it is being looked at and hopefully we will have some news later this week.

Can anyone reading this who has been coming on the ice on Thursdays with the under 19's please note that this week we have no session due to trials.

Anyone who wants contact me can do @ paul04@bethere.co.uk

ENL should be interesting next season if we choose to go ice one. Solihull and Telford are both icing ENL teams (Solihull at the expense of EPL, Telford at both levels) and there are the usual rumours of Coventry icing one.

Lets hope the other members vote them in on June 9th especially Solihull who have ruffled a few feathers at this level in the past

Also teh above mentioned teams will probably not meet the new Altrincham ENL team until the play off finals as they wiould probably be southern based teams in line with there standings in teh Premier Leagues

Telford, Solihull and Coventry all have junior teams in the north conference, and the southern ENL conference is the more heavier in teams...I'd expect the new applicants to join North.

The Timberwolves played out of the Southern ENL when the Tigers last had a ENL feeder team and is the way Dave is hopeing to go this season.

Can not say for Solihull and Coventry but feel that with past history Solihull would be looking at the southern league for there senior team after continuely vetoing the Warriors advances into Premier League competitions

Still no news on ENHL - what can be the problem? There must be spare ice time as the juniors haven't got that many teams in Leagues. In less than two weeks time it is the EIHA AGM, if we aren't sorted by then, we will miss the opportunity to give local born and bred players the chance to continue playing hockey in our home town rink - what a tragedy.

Can someone please explain why there can not be an ENHL team playing out of Alty next season? Elite is Elite, ENHL is ENHL, run correctly the ENHL could eventually be a farm team for the Elite team.

Come on people in the know - get us ENHL for 2007-2008 before it's too late and we ruin our junior development, U18/19s will be gone to other clubs.

Chill out.

Its not as easy as just saying 'Right, we are having and ENHL team'. There would be an awful lot to be sorted out.

Personally, I don't think we will hear anything until the EIHA EGM. There is precious little point in announcing an ENHL side if it then fails to be ratified as a member team.

Patience.

IS it a case of non available or re-organising the avialable time to fit?

Whilst we wont have a U19 side, there likely will be a U18 side, which will use the same ice time. Adding an ENHL side means time has to be found for another game each week, plus at least 1 practise session. So thats another, what 3-4 hours a week.

I'm sure something will be sorted out. It will just mean re-organising everything else on the timetables about (and lets be honest, if anything affects the precious figure skaters, we'll never hear the bloody end of it).
