<<<What possible justification can you have to be disdainful of a group of people who tried to do a good thing, to help someone in need, regardless of their motivations?>>>
Sure, thier hearts were in the right place. But their minds weren't. And that's my point.
<<<If I get fucked over despite my efforts, should I toss my philosophy and find a new one?>>>
If the actions you took were due to an intrinsic part of your philosophy that disables you from distinguishing good from bad, right from wrong, and truth from falsehood (e.g. prayer, faith, etc...) then I would say yes. Find a new one.
These people "took it up with God" when they made the decision to give away a house. They clearly did no research on the people to whom they were giving it, nor did they bother to guarantee that it would be used in the way it was intended. They took it on faith that thier good deed was pleasing to God. I'm sure the idea that God would allow this sort of thing to happen never crossed their minds. In fact, I doubt anything crossed their minds at all. When you're an admitted servant of some mystical being, you kinda deserve what you got coming, mama.
And he's right! They gave him the house as an act of charity in the name of thier God. If they don't like the way it's turning out, let them appeal to Him, and let God handle it. I'm sure he's capable. Otherwise, they should shut up and have faith that all of this is going to work together for good. They sing ever week about how God has everything under control anyway. So what are they worried about?
If you have faith, then you don't need words. You don't need the law. You don't need the press. Let 'em shut up and keep serving, I say. I could use another house, myself.
