I flew with the 405th from July 1944 to April 1945. I do not recall your uncle nor do I recall the incident in which he met his death. We were flying out of Lingayen Gulf on Luzon from February to June of 1945.
We will be having our reunion in St. Louis next week. I will post your request.
I am helping to revive our news letter and we are looking for pictures and stories. We also have a web site. We will try to help you and others in your position to get information.
Get in touch with me.

I returned from the 38th BG 2004 reunion in St. Louis last night. The best news is that the Association will not be disbanding. We have scheduled our next reunion to be held in Phoenix in 2006, probably in mid-October.
I posted your request at the reunion but received no responses. Someone may yet respond to me.
At the reunion, I was made aware of a large file of information about the 38th that will become available to me in the near future. When I receive that CD, I will search for further information for you and get in touch.
I would appreciate receiving an e-mail from you so that I may contact you more directly.
I will be the new editor for our Association news letter. We may be able to make this available to you electronically. When we get that set up, I will let you know if you have contacted me by e-mail.

I also have a copy of the
405th Bobardment Squadron (M)
38th Bobardment Group (M)
Office if the operations officer

list. Dated 23 may 1945
which shows he was apart of the unit from 03 may 44-- 19 may 45 when he was killed. It also has mission numbers listed. In all it is showing 46 combat missions.

Something happened to the message I was drafting so I am starting over. It is good to hear from you.
As I said last September, I received no responses to your request at the reunion. I will be happy to post your request in the May issue of our newsletter if you will get in touch with me giving me your e-mail address. If you also include a mailing address, I will send you a copy of our January newsletter.
We posted eleven requests in our "Did You Know Them?" column in the January issue and in the first day after it reached most of our members we had two responses. I think that was a good record but we are hoping for more.
Waiting to hear from you.
