Hello,
I am searching for squadron mates of Albert Gunkler. He was lead navigator with the 823rd Squadron. He was a member of the 823rd Squadron from mid 1944 through 1945. On March 20, 1945 his plane was last seen with Lt. Gibson at the controls heading into China with engine trouble. He spent a few weeks in Formosa and made his way back to safety a few weeks later.
I am giving a tribute to Al and would like to make contact with anyone who knew him during the war.
