How does Berlin's postcard prove that Gale was innocent?
And, does that mean that Berlin was part of the whole scheme? In other words, was her accusation of rape supposed to put Gale in the negative spotlight to accelerate his road to execution?
If you want to say that Berlin *was* part of the whole scheme... then why did Gale seem so surprised when he was accused of raping her, and so depressed in the period following the accusation and his wife's desertion?
And if you say that Berlin was *not* part of the whole scheme... then (a) why did it play such a big part in the movie; and (b) why did she send him the postcard?
