I would love to know of residents views on the state of the litter in and around Merley shops particurly on the walkway to the Play area (where the bench is) that used to have a council bin
Regards
PS Also any views on the play Area would be interesting !!!!

I agree with you; the litter bins are most certainly missing. I too would like to see some more bins up and around Merley. This is a common factor of 'litter' distress, as there are only a few bins in and through Merley. I seriously campaign for action.

More on Merley & Litter

My regular trip to Merley shops on a Sunday morning (no longer as I've gone a bit more 'green' by not buying the HUGE sunday paper!) used to be accompanied by one or two plastic bags which I invariably filled with junk, cans and bottles (plastic & metal). I recycled most. It got so much that in the end I restricted myself to the recyclable items. I suggest most people do not drop litter and it is the unfortunate few that do. When easily-led people see litter, they are more minded to drop it, so a part of the answer is to ensure litter is picked up. This relies on all users of the footpaths to do their bit. If we all become 'litter bugs', then at least the thoroughfares should stay clean and this may discourage some litter dropping. It is noteworthy the behaviour of dog owners has changed over the past decade or two, with the erection of 'poop bins'. A concerted effort by all path users may help with litter. I read in the Liberal Democrat doordrop that there was an organised litter pick recently and must thank those who organised it and those who tok part.
