For those using St30 at the hairline, how far down past the actual hairline do you put the tape. I am talking about in between the edge of the lace and hairline. It seems right in the very front i have about 1/4" of extra lace and I can see the tape in between the hair and edge of lace. Maybe that is my fault and I am not getting the tape matted down and smoothed out good. Maybe there is a little too much extra lace in the very front. I don't know, any advice would be helpful. One more thing I wanted to ask. When you are curving the tape in the very front to shape it, is it normal for it to wrinkle a little towards the back, opposite side of the hairline? This seems to happen to me but doesn't appear to be noticable and I just try to press it down and flatten it as much as possible. Thanks.
Yes, I know the tape should not be lower than the lace. I am talking about the hairline. I have a hairline and then there is extra lace past the hairline. Do you want the tape at the edge of the lace or the hairline (no lower than the hairline) or in between or maybe it doesn't really matter. Right now my tape is past the hairline a little but not low enough to get to the edge of the lace, but i guess it is low enough because the lace is not lifting. I can see the tape though if I pull my hair back. My style exposes a little of the hairline but not much so its not that big of a deal right now but I do want to get it right though.
You want the tape edge and the lace edge to line up as closely as possible. 1/4" bare lace in front of the hairline is too much in my experience. About 1/8" or less works well, two to three empty lace holes in front of the hairs is a good way to judge this. But the tape needs to go to the edge of the lace, I have noticed with SFS it's not as critical as a little overhang won't show much. When you mash the tape edge down in front, that's what the front edge of the lace needs to stick to and they will help each other disappear.
Thank you wesb. This is the info that I was looking for. When you say a little overhang won't matter, I assume you are talking about lace right? Can I just take regular scissors and trim that extra lace in the front down to about 1/8"? Thanks again.

Thanks webs...this answers my problem. I have too much extra lace in the very front. When you say a little overhang doesn't matter with an sfs, you are talking about lace right and not tape? Also, to trim the lace back a little in the front, can I just use regular scissors to do this? Thanks again.

Ok, I didn't see my last post after about 30 minutes and thought I did something wrong. I know I read something about a delay but didn't think it would take that long.
Yes Rod you can just have a little bit of lace at the front 1/16" would be ok, Some just cut the lace right up to the hairline its just a personal choice of what works best for you mate.
