I don't know if it's my water or not.. But, no matter what shampoo I try , and even w/o shampoo or conditioner or any combination of products the hair always dries stiff.
I've even tried nearly natural many times. Now, is this a sign of hard water b/c I can't think of anything else.
It's easy to comb the stiffness out of the hair, but the fact that I have to do it.. is telling me that something is building up in the hair strands and deterioating my pieces faster. I'm lucky if a piece doesnt' start shedding in 3 weeks after starting to wear it. It's getting to be expensive for me.
When that happened to me I found it was b/c I wasn't rinsing the conditioner and shampoo out enough. You have to get every last bit of shampoo/conditioner out. Rinse with warm, then cool water and keep going until it runs clear and you don't see any 'bubbles.'
Also, there have been a few posts back on this, but another thing I've done is soak my piece in water and baking soda.
You put 1/4 c. of baking soda in very hot water, let it dissolve, then soak the unit for several hours. Then, wash and condition like normal. The first time I did that, WOW was I amazed. It felt new again! I guess the baking soda breaks down all the residue bits that you don't see.
Let me know if that works for you-I'd be surprised if it doesn't!
Hey Tina thanks for the input. It is very nice to have a womans perspective on this forum...I know we all appreciate your input and Debbies( and all the ladies who contribute) Thanks for taking the time to post. Cheers
Ok, I put on this piece for the 2nd time. and now I have a bunch of hairs sticking up.. wasn't like that before. Anyway.. just always seems one thing after another.. not a big deal, I guess.
Folliman,
