I got this E-mail from a customer in England, He would like to know if anyone has any experience with Alvi Armani as you can see he charges 8,000 quid which is close to $20,000 US.
I have a friend who is considering a hair transplant with Alvi Armani, do you have any experience with these guys or can you offer any advice on transplants in general ? Apparently they offer a new technique that does not leave scars, though costs £8,000, which is obviously a lot of money.
Alvi Armani is a very good doctor. However, he is not very conservative. He has been known to transplant very youthful looking hairlines on people, which end up looking very good, but does not take into consideration future hair loss patterns. Although, I hear if you tell him that you want a conservative hairline, he will work with you to determine a good hairline that will not look horrible if you end up losing more hair down the road.
$20,000 US for a transplant could be a lot, or it could be a bargain. It all depends on the number of grafts you are receiving. Last I heard, Alvi Armani was charging around $6-7 per graft (for a strip procedure.) While this is a bit on the pricey side, it is not terrible as I have heard of some doctors charging upwards of $10 per graft.
The technique that you are talking about which doesn't leave a scar is called follicular unit extraction (FUE.) Most hair transplant doctors offer this type of procedure now, but it is a lot more expensive and probably the reason why he was quoted at $20,000. To be perfectly honest, I am not a big fan of Armani's FUE work. For some reason or another, and I could be totally off on this one, but based on what I've seen, the hairs just don't seem to grow in as well as his strip procedures do.
In my opinion, there are quite a few doctors who do better FUE work than Armani. I really like Dr. Cole's work, but since this person is in Europe, I would also recommend Dr. Bisanga of BHR. Dr. Bisanga is presently the most highly respected FUE hair transplant doctor in Europe.
I hope this information helps somewhat, but please note that I've not had a procedure done by any of these doctors, so my advice is purely based upon the limited info I have.

From what Ive read I have to agree with E, although I believe Armani is no longer doing strip, only FUE and charges upwards of $14 per graft which is insanely expensive considering guys getting 3-4000 grafts. If I had that type of cash(which I dont) and was going to choose Armani I would wait a year to start seeing some of his finished products of his mega sessions.
Yes Col it is like permanant hair strands, It has faded some what so I am going to ask Debbie to do some more while we are in England, If Debbie agrees we can do it at the convention.
Tell him to take a trip to the States for FUE with a top doc like Wolf or Cole. His money will go a lot farther here anyway. Seriously, you are talking about a decision that is permanent, cut no corners. I would not go to Armani.

You can't go wrong with these two, trust me. They are tip top. Tell him to not risk going any where else, simple as.
Gotta stop reading this forum as your only source on hair restoration, QD. The reality is is that transplants "do work." The caveat is that it depends on which doctor you go to.
Also, you said that everyone just wants your money in this business. That's actually not the case. There are many reputable doctors out there who have refused a patient's money because they felt they weren't a good candidate for a transplant.
