When my pieces arrived they were VERY poofy and it looked so wiggy I send it back to lower the density (from 75 % to 66 % and 70 % tot 62 % ) (hope I didn't lower it too much...)
Everywhere I read that the piece will be poofy in the beginning. Is there a way to avoid that?? Why does the poofyness go away when it's on your head and why not when it's not on your head??
Not really any way to avoid the poofyness factor. it is just that the hair is clean and new. it's like right after I wash and blowdry my hair it is full of volume and I love it, then on day two or three the volume is lessened and it lays flat. you can add a bit of product to the hair to keep it in line....that will diminish the poofyness some. after you've had it for a couple weeks, its usually not an issue anyways. it "relaxes" on its own with time.

water and styling products (semi-wet look) are my best friends until the hair loses it's poofyness. Washing you piece a couple of times will help also.
They usually start to relax after a few washings. I found Ilace systems to be the most poofy. I'm talking jiffy popped! If you want to avoid poof all together get a PSB system. The hair lays flat on those no poof at all. I would assune the hair lays flatter on all skin bases compared to lace.
I ordered a hairpiece once and it was perfect right out of the box. The secret? I ordered the venting "flat and downward" - and at cut in, looked perfect and everyone said it was the best piece they ever saw. It was the only time where I could shake my head and let it air dry. Never ordered one again like that, but maybe I will. Try it and see what happens.
I just specified "flat and down" at the recommendation of the company I used to order from. I think he also made a phone call to the company explaining to them that what I wanted was hair to "lay down" and not stick up or out. I really think this would be a great solution for short styles, or, full-caps in the back. The hair was vented in way that it would lay flat in the direction of the ventilation.
