I am a newbie who is going to start wearing next week and who is feeling a little nervous! I know this is totally natural, but would anyone be able to share with me their experiences of feeling nervous at first before then feeling great about wearing?
Well mate I went to this place in Birmingham England and when they had finished the cut in they told me how great I looked and they got these girls who were stylists there to tell me how handsome I looked, Blah,Blah,Blah I looked at all of them and asked them what glue they were sniffing as I looked like bloody Elvis Presley, I had never ever had that much hair and told them to cut out all the nonesence and to get it sorted, I stayed there for about 4 hours until they cut it down and got it looking ok.
Thats my experience but it wont be yours as you will have my help and the help of all the great people here on the forum, So get it done and dont worry if you think it dont look right at first, Just let us know what you need and we will help you until you are happy. Dont worry mate we will be able to help you and sort anything you need, If at all you need anything as it does and can go great right from the start.
One thing the high-priced salons used to do was put new mono units on and cut them in when they were wetted down. This tended to make them look much thinner than they really were. Once you'd left the salon and the hair had dried you suddenly found you had a super thick rug to contend with. I used to go home and spend the next hour plucking hair out in front the bathroom mirror just to get the density down.
Now we can get the correct density straight off with these TL pieces. The stress associated with wearing first time is much less because they look so much more realistic than those of the past.
It's only natural to be a bit nervous to start with, but within a couple of weeks you'll be beginning to get the hang of things. My best advice is read back through this forum, and get yourself a copy of MBs video.
My experience is virtually the same as BA's only it was with a hair club here in Minneapolis. All these places use the same technique. After they put this mop on my head they hauled in 3 hair stylists who all commented how wonderful I looked. Ha! Same script. They try to give you support and make you feel good about yourself. Believe me, you won't find better support group than the hair wearers on this forum. They know what it's like to be bald and then transition to hair wearing. These are real people and not paid technicians.
I am in the same boat as you! I am going to get my cut in tomorrow.
I would be lying if I said I didnt feel nervous! However, at the same time I am so excitied! I have hated my hair thinning for so long and I have dealt with crappy concealers and that daily routine for far too long!
So the thought I have a solution like this at a reasonable price how can we not go ahead and give it ago!
Sure I am scared at times but big deal! We have to get it on our head and cut in and give it a whirl for a while. Only then can we see if hair wearing is for us or not.
When I get really nervous and think what happens if it look like a rat died on my head, I just think I can always take it off and try again or shave my head. (not very likely).
I am sure once we get them on and cut in we will be blown away! Then we will be like WOW how lucky are we to have found a solution like this!
i was elvis also at hcm..funny thing if they lowered the density to 65% i might still be thier...i cannot see how they make this mistake over and over..i had more hair at 38 then 16 years old
