Where to buy sulfate free shampoo??

March 17 2008 at 12:25 PM

Hi,

On this forum I read that sulfate is very bad for the piece. So I searched all Amsterdam for sulfate free shampoo, but in every shampoo I checked it's the second ingredient!! And I checked A LOT of shampoo's. All the normal drug stores and all the reform stores.

So where do you buy sulfate free shampoo??

Best regards!!

not to be rude guy, but all I did was put "sulfate free shampoo" in my search engine, did 10 minutes of reading, and VOICI!>>>

http://search.folica.com/search?p=Q&srid=S9%2d1&lbc=folica&ts=custom&w=sulfate%20free%20shampoo&uid=288946310&method=and&isort=score&srt=0

Then, you can pick a brand that looks good, and punch that into your search engine to find the best price...c'mon, it's 2008 in some parts of the world and the Internet is here to save $$$$... Like toplace et al...

I ALWAYS check e-bay once I see a couple brands I think look good as a cross reference...

1 hour of work and research and you have what you want!!

good luck

Yes ofcourse I know I can just buy it online but I can't wait for it to be delivered because I need it tomorrow. My piece arrives tomorrow (hopefully) and I need to wash it before I get the cut in. Also it will look poofy in the beginning so I need to wash a lot in the first week.

Alright never mind I found it!!! There's this hairsalon around the corners for kids and they have some kind of sulfate free shampoo for baby's. I'm gonna try that.

So if there's another dutch guy looking for sulfate free shampoo: it's on zeeburgerdijk 315 in Amsterdam!!

Sulfates aren't the only thing bad for piece hair, panthenol can reek havoc as well.

If you do not have access to sulfate free shampoos, just buy ANY shampoo formulated for color treated hair. its the next best thing.
I honestly don't think using a sulfate free shampoo greatly extends the life of a hair piece. perhaps I'm wrong but with an all lace piece, its probably only going to last 4-6 months anyways........that is only 2-3 pieces per year...at toplace prices, it doesn't get much better than that.
of course, yes, you should try to use the best products to extend the life of your piece...but if a sulfate free shampoo costs $39 to $79 (purology) and it extends the life of your system by one month, have you really saved a lot of money?

Debbie's right. You should be able to get 4 to 6 months out of a piece. I get that with lace fullcaps worn continuously night and day.

I don't use styling products very often, don't wash the hair too much and do 3 re-attachments per month (2 in winter).

As for costs well, fullcaps cost just under $300 each. I use ST 30, about one roll per month at $9.00 each; one bottle of Off'N On glue every six months costs $3.40; one bottle of Lace Release every six months. And one bottle each of Pure and of Knot Sealer per year.

All up it's pretty cheap wearing and can come in at well under $1,000 a year.

At AHS I used to pay $2,000USD per year for a thick mono topper, $80 to $120 every 5 to 6 weeks for "re-fusions" and tints to my own hair, plus $$$ for any further maintenance, tapes and styling products.

I agree that most people need to wash their hair more that once a week. My scalp itches like crazy if I go more than 3 or 4 days. But, you don't need to wash your piece that often. I usually remove my piece once a week, but I shampoo my sides in the shower in between removals while I avoid putting a lot of shampoo on the unit. The lace pieces allow some shampoo and water to penetrate under the unit. BTW, the Matrix Biolage shampoo in the search listing above does contain sulfates. I agree with Debbie, extending the life of the unit by one month does not make sense if you have to spend a lot on the shampoo. I believe that using a good conditioner like the one Debbie sells will work just as well in keeping the unit hair looking healthy and extending the life a bit.

I find that sulfate free shampoos don't lather as well, and it sometimes takes hitting it twice to get the product out of my hair. Maybe it isn't really worth it?

My problem is that I use styling product and I can only go so long without washing it out and starting over. And if I go to a bar or club where there is smoke, I gotta get that smell out somehow.

I'm soooo glad that we passed the law (just started a few months back) making it illegal to smoke in any building, include bars...

Riiiiight Fred...
and what's next?

I understand not smoking in buildings, but certain areas of bars should be ok... IT'S A BAR! have non -smoking areas,etc...
I am not a smoker ...shoots down that thought in your head...

No, my problem is with "big brother" delving into every part of our lives...don't know if you noticed, but we are turning into a police state...the power and hypocrisy of police and elected officials is at an all time high... How about the fat pig in Baltimore beatin on a 90lb 14 yo boy out having fun with his friends? his comment was" if I had known it was being video taped, I wouldn't have done it"... DUH!

dump a guy in a wheel chair onto the floor? we'll suspend you and let it die down in the press then protect you because you are "one of us"

In Philadelphia, these elected Idiots in City Council tried to ban "transfats" and "Foi-gras" in Philadelphia restaurants..

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

Philadelphia is about to surpass Detroit in murders and these nimrods are trying to regulate our freedoms??

I understand that smoking is a thorny issue, but if you don't see the forest from the trees, you are ignorant..it won't stop there as Government will reach into all aspects of our lives... This is so typically democratic...republicans know that the strong individual working with others creates the ideal society, not a bunch of lazy lugs working the system at the expense of those who work hard everyday and are responsible in their breeding habits...

francis, this was not a "government" imposed restriction, as such.
A petition, several years ago, garned enough signatures to get the issue (as a proposition) on the general ballot and it passed HUGELY........ So, this was the "will of the people", not some "big brother" deciding what people can and can't do.

Now, I don't care if "you" (and francis, I'm not referring to you directly, as you don't smoke, so from here to the end of this post "you" refers to whomever the shoe fits), smoke and seriously endanger your health, as long as it doesn't endanger mine, 'nor cost me anything.

Smoking does both. Second hand smoke is incredibly dangerous, so smoking, in public places, does or can endanger my health.

It also cost me. My hard earned pennies that I pay for health insurance, deductibles, lab test, whatever, are driven, in a large part, by the massive amount of health care that can easily be prevented.

Yes, it's a bar, however how does that give "you" (notice again the 'you' in quotes) the right to endanger the health of those that have to serve you, even if they did allow smoking areas.

Regarding transfats, yes, they're being banned in a lot of cities, and they should. As with smoking, they're a huge health problem.
Again, I don't care if "you" want to kill yourself, help create heart desease, etc., as long as it doesn't hurt me or cost me.
Again, as with smoking, transfats do both. Being in food that I eat, they damage my health and as with the health problems produced by smoking, the health problems produced by transfats drive up health care cost and what health care cost ME.
Many cities have and are in the process of banning transfat and may of the food companies (especially snacks) have stopped using transfats in their products.

The bottom line is that the food companies care about NOTHING except the bottom line, not about your or anyone else's health.
Left to themselves they would use whatever components are the least expensive in their products, all other considerations be damned.

The complaining about crime, etc., really is not related to this subject.

So, for me and my family, I applaud the banning of smoking (here at least) in all public places and the, eventual, banning of transfat in foods, or at least food served in restaurants and, eventually, purchased (such as chips, etc.).
Transfats are a very real and huge health risk.
