| Well,
someone told me: While in areas where you wanna use glue it may be even avantageous to leave stubble when shaving, you should shave blank where you wanna use tape. So did I, with my electric beard shaver, no irritation to scalp skin... so far, so good.
However, after some days of No Residue Tape (and at one place ST-30 for testing), the taped down perimeter started (slightly) aching at 6 or 7 spots. Just as if I was about to get an acne blain there. Now, when I removed the NRT after 9 wearing days, everything LOOKS fine, no inflamation visible, but some of these spots still ache a bit. Like acne, but nothing visible... wondering... I remember, when I used to shave my chest and abdomen hair blank, I had very similar symptoms, and in the end it were ingron hairs all the time... Now, that scalp hair and body hair don't always behave the same way, I have hope that I won't have to struggle with ingrown scalp hair... Because that might turn out not to be so really funny!
Any of you guys know about that issue? Do you shave blank where you wanna use tape (for a week or more?) Any advise on this one?

I just use an electric shaver on my scalp all around, even where the tape goes.
No in grown hair problems or lack of adhesion by the tape.
I never take blade to my scalp. |

when i shave hair (using hair clippers) i always use an astringent such as seabreeze to clean up the area. i still get some irritation under the tape areas but i wouldnt know how to avoid it.
seabreeze is great to freshen things when doing a frontal too. i use a soaked cotton ball and go back (and under) as far as i can in the back. |

Snipe, does that mean you leave stubbles when using your electric shaver? Mine has different options: Leaving about 1 mm or really blank. It's also an electric one, I don't use blades either. But still I CAN get it blank... only question is if I should... |

Mine is a cheap, corded tri head shaver.
Mine doesn't have any adjustments, but it definitely doesn't shave the hair below the scalp.
Incidentally, I will get ingrown hairs on facial hair sometimes when using a blade, but none when I use my electric on my facial hair.
I've got quite a bit of stubble on my head that grows out a couple mm during a two week attachment with st30 and it surely does not affect my bond.
Actually, my bond is stronger where I have stubble compared to my forehead, which has no hair whatsoever.
This will vary with each person as body chemistry is different. |
