This one was cut in for me by Pam of Cindy's Custom Cuts in Braidwood, IL. Tell me what you think on the plus and minus side.

What an improvement since you first arrived with that other companies' piece.
Looks good.
From a styling point, how about using your fingers to kinda go back and forth on the side blend points and mussing the side piece hair so it is not as combed in place.

It looks pretty good, BUT.
Like someone said, mess up where the wig meets your own hair, because it looks as if it is either a wig or a modified comb-over there. Easily fixable IMO by that technique.
The pictures also make it look like the hair has vaseline or some kind of styling gel in it, maybe lose that. If you want your wig hair to stay in place get some light hairspray and spray it after doing the messing up on the sides. At the prices of these wigs IMO it does not make much sense to worry about product messing up the wig hair. Ask women, not men, what kind to buy for light hold.
Lastly, I think a stylist could better blend the side wig hair to your own side hair.
The front looks real good which throws off the idea of a wig.
I think it's definitely passable, but you have the same issues I did with thin sides and weak temple points.
I'm probably gonna get blasted for this but I think you could achieve 100% improvement with a full cap.
I say full cap instead of 3/4 cause your nape is very thin, just like mine. You might have to increase the length of your side hair a bit if you ever decided to do a piece that covers that area, but it would be well worth it to alleviate the hassles that I am sure you are going through right now.
Guys with strong sides and temples tend to take things for granted as I am sure it is much easier for them to pull off a topper, but to fight bad side hair like I did for two years is just insane.
Everyone tries to scare you out of shaving off any more hair than you absolutely have to, but I'll tell you firsthand you will save yourself a LOT of headaches if you pull the trigger sooner rather than later.
I have thought about full cap and may one day. I just wouldn't want to shave all the way down to make template. I did have this one cut in by a local stylist.
I did have fun at Mickey D's with the uncut unit before I went for the cut-in. One lady says your hair has grown a lot since yesterday. I said yes it does grow pretty fast.
Thanks to everyone for all the comments. I had put a spray gel in my hair in the morning. To me as the stylist thought as well the color is off on the sides. She said I probably need to increase the amount of grey on the right side particularly.
I can see your skin showing through the gap between your hair and the piece and even inf i couldn't i'd still notice it isn't right. I am tending to agree with the full cap people that maybe your real hair is too weak and thin at this point.
Hey MacMike,I've been following your post's from the HD site & from what I can see,you ve come quite a long way, front looks great as well as back,I think when you get to completing the sides it will be perfect & your pretty close, how is that attached & what base you got, I think it is the sfs if I'm not mistaken, looks good real good, keep it up! & fix up the sides a little & then it'll be great, also thanks for the words on my post.
I'd have to agree with the other posts as well, looks very good in the front and back...but the sides do look off because of the density change from your real hair to the piece.
I do like the pics from the front in particular, it's a good style from the front. What are the specs. on your piece, and is this ventilation forward from the crown?
I dont think you can get away with that piece honestly. I understand pictures magnify things, but realistically, I believe people are going to know you are wearing a wig. I think you would be a good candidate for a full cap. only thing u could possibly do with a topper is make it larger to cover ur very balding areas, thin out the density even more, and add more grey tones.
for this piece specifically. I think u might need some dermmatch or something. not sure if that will completely solve it, but i think it would help.
If you have to spackle the sides of your hair with Dermmatch, it's time to shave it off, point blank, no if's and's or but's about it. There is absolutely no reason not to.
In this instance if both sides were as thick as the thicker side (left I believe) then I would say yea, pay the $30 and try it out. But the thinnest side is bad, and it would take a sizable application of Dermmatch with daily touch ups to get it to look ok.
Before I switched to a full cap I was at the point where I wouldn't go out of the house in the daylight without a cap, and that's no way to live if you ask me.
Mike, it's been a year ago (almost to the day) that you walked into the Chicago convention and how far you have come since then eh ? I find your front very impressive.
For the sides, the very first thing that I would do to put all the odds on your side (no pun imtended haha) is to have more gray hair on your system hair where it meets your hair. By bringing that blending area more uniform in colour, you could get away much more easily with the thin hair that you have and some of your scalp showing. Look at the first pic, and see the colour difference. When we succeed to have the colour of a wig as close as possible to our own hair - especially where they meet - it takes care of some other weakness and faults.

Some have said it is too much density, but I don't see that.
I mean, look at the sides. You can see through to the scalp.
I agree with Han's suggestion. It looks more like a color issue with me. I would think if you would lighten it up with more grey or something on the sides, it would match better.
nah man. He has the ends of the hair covering completely balding areas that is why you can see through it. look above that, at the dark line, thats where his base is. He needs to bring that base further down and reduce something in that area, cause its still gonna be too much of a contrast.
I think i was being a little too critical mac, I think if you try dermmatch or something it might not look half bad. U need to fill in that big contrast

I think the biggest issue I see on the sides is the change in length from the side hair to the piece hair. The piece hair is quite a bit longer than your real hair. It looks like there is a gap between the base and your real hair. I guess the sides of the base needs to be wider on your next piece to have more coverage and then you can shorten the length of the piece hair to be able to blend better.
