i was with the hairclub before and those guy use ultrabond and recommend me to shampoo daily, i like to shampoo daily because it makes my scalp clean and i like the fresh smell.
however with a self-help system like toplace, i was told that we are recommended to shampoo only 1-2 times a week (reference: hairdirect), is it true?
i plan to have short hair like 1 to 1.5 inch... how often do u guys shampoo? do u guys also find shampoo less often makes the unit last longer?
I shampoo twice a week. If you need to shampoo daily or every other day, I'd make sure and get a shampoo for color treated hair so it's less likely to fade fast on you. I can't answer from experience, but from what others have said it does tend to make the hair fade faster if you shampoo often. I'd have ADF from the start so you can get rid of any fade that might come up. Just my opinions. Hopefully others can chime in that actually do shampoo daily/every other day.
a good shampoo to use on a dailey basis is pureology for color treated hair. it's expensive, but well worth it, you only need a dime size amount, for a good lather. it's hard to find, but some cvs stores carry it, and walmart too
As I like to shampoo often, too, can anyone recommend a shampoo that is both for WIG hair and for COLOUR-TREATED hair (and by this for regular shampooing). I mean, "wig hair" is most likely to be colour-treated anyway, but still I look for something that allows me to shampoo the hair with least color fading possible. (I have my unit 4 weeks now, and damn, although shampooing only about 3 times a week and started using the Tressemmee color lock-in spray, the hair already starts fading from dark brown to sth. reddish
I take my unit off every other day to shampoo. My scalp just gets too dam oily to go 2 days in a row. I use Pureology. It's not hard to find at all. I get it off ebay and it's not too bad, $60 for both sham & cond. I've paid alot more than that at a salon.
Didi the stylist that did my cut in told me twice a week. Also said if I wanted I could use a conditioner on other days but just use small amounts. Today is my third day wearing and I feeel like i have to wash it.

too many folks believe special items are necessary to care for your hair (TL or otherwise). i remember when i was with hcm, an idiot owner/manager implied my hair was falling apart because i was using products other than theirs on my hair. he was wrong. i was using every damn thing they shoved down my throat. time has cleared that issue...
i use pantene for color treated hair (shampoo and conditioner). it works just fine.
as for frequency of washing, i have washed every day and i have washed once a week. every day is too much and i have found with less frequent washing aside from the overall grubby feeling under the mesh, in the front the glue seems to be more of a problem.
i suggest trying cheap stuff and moving to the more expensive if they dont work for you.

I shampoo and blow dry every day. I wear like I'm not wearing. I use off the shelf shampoo and conditioner. My hair is not perfect. But I don't want it to be. I am too old to have hair like Tom Cruise LOL.
I get about 7 month out of a poly base and have recently began attaching with only next gen. Makes claen up and reattachment easier.
However I wear my hair longer than than the close cropped military styles that are popular today.
