I have a transplanted front hairline which I was wearing a piece from toplace behind. Looked very good. One day while doing an attachment, wondered if I had enough hair to go without. Started using dermmatch/fullmore/toppik. Started using rogaine-had some regrowth on the crown after a month. But it's still a royal pain in the b*lls.
Takes wayyy to long in the mornings. I thought it might get easier with longer length, but so far, not so much. I feel like I want to go back to my old system, but feel torn about abandoning my hopes for a pieceless existence. Anyone else go through this?
I went thru the whole gamut, transplants, rogaine, shampoo, concealors etc etc, You know what? I was so preoccupied with all that crap that I now look back & laugh, I actually spend less time on my hair now with a system than most people do with real hair & it looks dam good!Once you understand that the systems of today aren't the old albatross systems that look like some dead animal is stuck to your head,& are very complimenting to your overall appearance, it's a breeze , so why wouldn't you wear? it's all about accepting what you have & what you can do with whats out now & if these systems would have been around 20 yrs ago ,the amount of $$$$$$$$ & more importantly time I would have saved would have probably been able to buy a house if not a down payment!
The last transplant I had was to fill in the front hairline to wear the system behind. He had hair left over which he went farther back with. I wore the system for awhile (and I have on and off for years) with good success. On one of my attachemnts I saw some of it grow in and I wanted to see how thick it would be once it came in some more, so I gave it a shot.
Sean ,I did also, the good thing from this result I found was that after all that work, looking after a hair system was a joke & so much easier than trying to work with plugs, don't you think?
Sean: the reality is that your real hair situation will never get better. It will only get worse. Once you accept and understand this you will be able to spend all you energy on living your life with a hair system and believe me, it's great because you'll feel free from worries and you will also have the freedom to wear what you want, as you want. We can have pretty much a total control on how we want our hair when we wear. Today, there are so many possibilities.
At the age of 23 this forward thinking got a hold of me and I plunged into hair wearing right away without ever looking back. And I have no regrets at all.
Believe me, it's a waste of time trying to work out you hair when you are balding. There are no 'products' solution to it except for a hair system.
Hans,That was well put!
When I think of all the time & money wasted,I get sick & angry ,so many vultures in this world who prey on this problem , I started losing my hair when I was 21-22 yrs old,it is a very difficult ordeal to go thru & when I think about all the scumbags who tried to take advantage of me & the situation.
Hair systems 20 yrs ago looked awful & I tried one then, when it came off one night as I was walking out the door,I was pissed I swore I would never ever even look at HCM again! Then I had several hair transplants from the best Dr(at that time in Canada) what an adventure that was!
In the last year I've started wearing again , at first you really have to be proactive & take the bull by the horns & learn (which this site has been incredible for) the rest is up to you & I like those odds!
Hair systems today are virtually impossible to detect (I don't even mind if I get busted as long as I know it looks good)Hell! I've seen hair & hair transplants that don't come close to what you can achieve with a hair system. my 2 cents
This is the direction I'm going back to I think. Read, though, that I HAVE WORN HAIR BEFORE! Sorry, this point doesn't seem to be getting through. On and off since I was 26 (I'm 40 now).
A good system with my transplanted hairline does look great, and the comparative hassle to what I'm doing now is low. I just got lured into the possibility of going with my own hair...if it seems feasible at any point, for whatever reason, it is a strong lure. So it may have been a failed experiment, but don't underestimate the pull of that desire. For all the joys of wearing hair that looks good, it too gets old - I speak of this from experience. It just may be the best option I have right now though.
