OK-I have always taken it as a given that he wears at least a topper. He has the classic wide forehead look, with weak temples and sides. Then HE did this last night (probably an april fools joke) and reveals a full cap. My question is, did he just shave his sides, or is he really a full cap. I can't imagine that his full cap would have such weak temples. Maybe it's a Hair transplant. Anyway-it was weird nonetheless when my aunt-who knows I wear, called me to tell me how I look better bald than pat sajak!

Ah, you beat me to it! I figured he has tricked me because I thought it was a topper but it turned out to be a very modest full cap. I still have no clue what this means and if he is going to keep wearing or be bald. Very brave move for Pat, hopefully this can change the idea of hairpieces and how people could respond to the ones that look good.

Notice how he continually refers to it though as "living a lie" and "not honest" and so forth. Unfortunately, this is still the general public's mindset and probably will never change.
"I had crooked teeth when I was a kid, but got braces to straighten them...Guess in Pat's mind I'm livin a lie!"
Hey, I'm with you - you are preaching to the choir. But the general public, for whatever reason, doesn't see it the same way. People are "allowed" socially (meaning with a minimum of being judged poorly for doing it) to make pretty much any kind of cosmetic improvement they want, but not gluing someone else's hair onto their head.
I was telling a female friend that I was thinking of buying a piece, and she made comments about it being "fake", etc. The funny part? She has breast implants! By the way, when I showed her some pictures from the forum and photo section of the site, her mind changed quickly!

That is exactly what I am talking about. Society at large are conditioned from the word go to view hairpieces in this way. Pretty much everything else is "ok" but this is not. But, at least your friend sounds open minded enough to rethink her gut reaction upon seeing what is possible.
Pat Sajak is a funny guy and I always kept an eye on him eversince he had a late night show in the late 80's which didn't last long because of low ratings. He was competing with Johnny Carson (!) I think.
Pat knows how to laugh about himself and he has a self-depreciating hunour that I learned a lot from. His act about the hairpiece could be part of it.
So many people are uptight and take things so seriously. Life is about joy and laughs. Our adventure on earth is funny and people who don't get to realize this are missing out a lot.
Would I pull my piece off my head one day ? No, never. But I know how to laugh and have fun
I am curious to see what he does tonight.
I think it was a joke, especially since he said "Have a nice April 1st everybody"
I do think he wears though.
It just seems weird that he would have a full cap made with deep temple recession, and the Wide forehead syndrome that we talk about on here. The major benefit of a full cap is that you can get back that thick temple and side hair. I wonder if wears a topper but put on one of those theatrical bald caps to cover up his sides. But that would be a lot to do just for an april fools joke.
we'll see

The weird thing was he was seriously choked up when confessing, thus why I believed it wasn't a joke. Though like the previous poster said...why would he wear a full cap and still have weak temple points? Anyone catch Alex Trebet before with the disappearing mustache?
"Though like the previous poster said...why would he wear a full cap and still have weak temple points? "
Ah, but that's the genius of it isn't it? Look how he got a bunch of expert hair wearers to not know what was going on.
I still don't know if the whole thing was an april 1st gag or not. Like he really does have his own hair but put on a bald cap and then perfect replica full cap over it for the joke. I seriously doubt he would host from now on with a kojak going on even if he really does wear. It'd be too weird after all these years.
Hard to see in the youtube vid if it was a bald cap. I bet in HDTV you could probably tell, even with a top notch makeup department if you knew what to look for.
