Wish I had some (amusing) horror stories about high-pressure sales tactics and what-not, but not the case. Bottom line: $825 per system, unless you get on a "plan," in which case prices range from 300-400 per depending on the plan. Nice guy, though. Towards the end I asked him about 'net companies and DIY'ers gettin' it done for less than $200 per system and, to my surprise, he didn't talk trash, so I've gotta at least give him credit for that.
Yes, he said he'll cut and style any head that makes an appointment, but doesn't alter stock units (as he called them "pre-custom units") and/or attach any unit that he hasn't sold. As long as it's already on your head, though, he'll be glad to accept your business.
Oh, yeah, he also did a color match and told me that my hair is pretty much spot-on brown #4 and that a clipped off sample would probably not be necessary. Was very low-pressure, gave me the sort of advice that I've gotten from the forum, except that he could see my head! I won't be buying a system from him, but he was very helpful and informative, and I'll be recommending him to all my non-bald friends based on his honesty and helpfulness. Nice to know that there are still some good folks out there!
I saw no need to make the consultation confrontational. It was friendly and helpful. I appreciate, value, and analyze everyone's advice...admittedly oftentimes to the point of indecision, whether it involves hair or anything else, I like to get info from as many sources as possible. And I'll be perfectly honest, I have some doubts as to my ability to do it all myself. Above all else, I'm on this forum to learn and many experienced wearers seem to have vastly different opinions about bases, cut-in's, etc., and that makes it tough on a new guy to make a decision. I'm trying to take EVERYONE'S advice, and draw conclusions from that. As an analogy, and on the lighter side, I'm the type of guy who studies a restaurant menu for an hour before I decide what I want!
Snipe , I'm sorry but you're way out of line here. You may be tired of answering the same old questions and I can respect that but in my opinion this board is made for not only general discussion on wearing, new products, styles etc but also as a point of reference for new people like Suddzy and myself. Not everyone makes quick decisions, some people like myself research things to death. I started looking at Toplace in August 2006, I only started actually wearing 2 days ago. Does that make me a phony? I read all the topics but not all topics answered my question the way I needed it answered. That doesn't make me dense, I hope. I'm just trying to learn like anyone else here in the beginning. Now that I'm wearing everything I read earlier is starting to make sense but in the beginning it was all Greek to me.
Without new people the cycle breaks and business dies slowly. The same old dumb questions helped me learn enough to do it. I hope all new people continue to ask dumb questions, its what makes this board better than all the others.
First off, do you work for toplace? If not, it should be of no concern to you where I buy. Secondly, it was a friendly conversation, was not there to try and "bust" him. As I've said before, it was an informational session, cost me nothing, and was time well spent.
What the hell is supo!!??!!?? Is that an acronym? I'm in central Pennsylvania, for God's sake!! Surrounded by farmland, I am not the enemy, just a bald guy trying to be un-bald! Wish I could make it to Orlando, Snipe, we probably would have a good time throwin a few back! I like folks with attitude! hahaha
Just so you know Sudz only myself and John operate Toplace, I own Toplace for now and John will do in the future.

Debbie owns Split Ends and is the only person who can use the name Toplace when advertising products, She is the sole supplier of Toplace glues, tapes and other acessories and products, She also works with Toplace but not for Toplace other than when she attends Toplace conventions as our stylist and product supplier, She has my permission to advise and help our customers and use the name Toplace when she sees the need to do so.
I am going to post this in a seperate thread so all newbies know the order of things.
Trust me I personally value every Toplace customers input on this forum a lot of whom I have met and are now my friends, But at the end of the day myself John and the moderator Eric are responsible for this Toplace forum and what is posted on it, And at the end of the day ultimatly the buck stops with me.
