99% Alcohol - search turned up no resultsApril 15 2008 at 3:17 AM | Joseph (Login Joseph303) |
| I have heard that 99% alcohol works just fine for removing a system from your head. I have also heard hat 99% is nasty stuff that can burn and irritate your skin. So does anyone use it? If so, how do you apply it? Im usually all about trial and error, but when i saw the word "burn" i figured i had better ask first. |

It's commonly used. If you have dry, sensitive skin, it will definitely irritate it. Also, don't use it right after shaving your head(unless you use an electric razor, which you should be doing anyway). Used properly, most have no problems with it.
I have a small squirt bottle that I use to apply to areas of the lace that have tape under them. I tie a bandanna around my head to keep it out of my eyes and apply generously. After a few minutes, I peel the piece off, leaving the tape stuck to my head. Then I can peel the tape off of my head.
I may do a spray or two after that to get any left on residue. You can spray some onto a comb to get any residue out of your hair.
The best place to get it is amazon.com. Do a search for 99%. I like the vendor called "bebeautiful".

The difference in effectiveness between 99% and the readily available at just about any drug store 91% for removing most adhesives is minimal.

I can use 99% for little touch ups, but to remove the unit I use Desolve-It. The 99% causes my eyes to burn and really dries my skin. It works well, but in that quantity it is too harsh for me. You are right though; it is all about trial and error.

I use 91% alcohol for removal w/no ill effects. 99% is better, but not enough for me to go through the hassle of ordering it extra via mail.
It will make your life more comfortable if you use the alcohol in a well ventilated room, put s/t around your head to keep any drips away from your eyes and leave the alcohol on to let it work for a few minutes before starting to remove. |

You can get 91% at walgreens I have heard most real beauty supply stores will carry 99% but I have only gone to Sally (not a real supply store) and they don't have it |
