Having problems with dryness? Hair seems too thick? hair loses color or doesn't take color? One of the best products and only one I use now are the following:
Pureology Serious Colour Care, Antifade Complex shampoo AND conditioner (not a 2 in 1, they are separate)
Shampoo
Conditioner
both
usually you get a discount for buying both theres even a special offer I just saw via this link: $35 for both not including shipping:
1. uses very very little so it lasts a long long time
2. When the piece is washed and conditioned, it settles it down VERY VERY soft, takes away that dry tangly look and can make an old piece new again.
3. Its a little more expensive than regular shampoos and conditioners, but not outrageous like some of the pureology products like nanoworks - plus its about the same as you use much much less, a dab usually will do you.
4. My fiance was using it and I spoke to her stylist who is a top stylist, educated in some of the finest schools, and other products, off the shelf cheaper stuff, tends to build up and makes it difficult to color if you color a piece, this is why sometimes it doesnt come out right.
5. This stuff keeps the color in, prolongs your unit as it helps against fading, and the best part, it makes a typically thick piece, when you use the conditioner, lay so flat and so soft its really amazing.
I have mentioned this product for a little while now, a few like Rod have seemed to use it, but like the ST30 tape, might take a year before everyone starts trying it.
Do yourself a favor and get both of these, you can order right from amazon and have it delivered to your home. They even have gallon sizes that will last you a year or more probably making ti very economical. Since using these I don't need anything else, and it makes my hair not feel nappy, and also as soft and as manageable as my side hair.

Yep, this is the stuff that I mentioned earlier. Jake told me about this a while back and it works. A little pricey but it lasts a long long time and it will keep your hair soft. Thanks again for the advice Jake!

This stuff used to be real expensive and so nobody was buyin them...Pureology finally used their common sense and realized that no shampoo is worth over $50 so they started to mass merchandise this line to stores like target and wal-mart...its cheap now...get it off ebay.

MO - they still have that, this is a different line...
JD - I havent used nanoworks, and for that price wont. This helps not only with softness and such but also great for color and anti-fading, thus prolonging the life of a piece. Its affordable, lasts forever, and the best I have come across and professionally recommended.

My girlfriend and I use nanoworks and its amazing as well. Both pureology products are fantastic and leave your hair and scalp very healthy and clean. It lasts a long time too.
Once you go pureology you never go back to any other shampoo because nothing compares

Hi,
I am using that shampoo and the conditioner, too.
For me it was something like the final breakthrough. It makes the hair incredibly soft and helps to keep the color. I am on 1o month now with my last piece.
But the most important thing is that with this the hair forms easily around the shape of my head. Also the hair seems to fall better -into- my own, what really helps to make it look realistic. I used creme of nature before. It helped to keep the color, too. (The store bought shampoo I used before killed my first piece in 3 month.) But my own hair looked very ugly and alot thinner with it. It was also always somehwat looking like if the piece hair was laying over my own hair... .
What I also found out is that it helps me with the clean up. When I have PURE on my hands and use a normal soap, I need like 3 washes to get my hand really oil free. When I use a small amount of the shampoo it is all gone after one wash. That really helped to minimize my clean-up time. I put a good amount of PURE on my head till everything is really soaked with oil. Parts where sometimes some glue got into my hair, too. I don't rubb over it with a tovel or something anymore. Then I wash it all out and all is clean. Before, the clean up was always the ugly part for me, now it is done in 2 min. I cannot say if this works with all glues, of course. I use the normal white glue from coolpiece.
Best regards

JD thats the one I posted its a purplish type bottle:)
Glad I could help and glad to see others have prospered under it...Its really great great stuff...bobby and some others harped on nanoworks, just was never in my price range and wasn't about to spend that much on shampoo. I had used it a few times when I ran out of my own from my fiance, then found out from her stylist that the line is great..in fact for coloring this is where I also learned of the Wella coloring products that I have harped on.
Its just really great stuff and does seem to transform a piece into almost your real hair, kind of odd...I love the conditioner, its minty and leaves like a minty feeling on your scalp which is nice.
Little trick I do as well is to shampoo only my real hair, while shampooing and conditioning the piece if I had just done a removal...you can do this with it still on your head as well, I have done that too...but the shampoo makes your real hair bulk up but without the conditioner on the sides and back they dont get as soft or softer, if that makes sense, then when I do the shampoo AND condition on the piece it brings it down to the level of my real hair.

I usually wear at least 10 days, sometimes up to 14 or 15. My routine is like this:
I, too, wash only my own hair every 3 or 4 days. Then I put on the conditioner on my own hair and the piece hair. I only wash the piece when I take it off, mostly to get the alcohol I use for removal out of the hair and to get the base clean. I use a bit of hairspray every day but still I don't see a reason to wash the piece more often. Just a good amount of water and some conditioner and the hair looks great. I think that really helped to extend the lifespan of the piece.

I do not get the point of putting conditioner on wig hair. It is just more stuff that you must wash off. Plain old water does it for me and cleans the wig hair fine. If I want shine Brylcreem works fine for that, if I want hold hairspray works for that. I use the KISS (keep it simple stupid) principle to wig-wearing and my profession. It seems to work for both.

Glad I could help, the nano stuff that bobby mentioned is probably great, but this is great in that it focuses on not just the softness which is wonderful, but the color too! Helps with fading, keeping color in, especially if one decides to color a piece....
Great combo, and had to make a standout thread for it
"Jake do you also use Nearly Natural or if you use this you don't need Nearly Natural?"
No I dont use NN - havent in awhile, for me this is sufficient.
--------------------------------------------------------
"So you use Pureology for your real hair and wig hair?"
Yes I use it on both.
---------------------------------------------------------
"How many times a week do you wash?"
All depends, sometimes a couple times, sometimes more or less, usually twice at the most, but thats just based on my routine wont factor too much into this thread.
Typically I wash and condition the piece when I do a new attach...then wash it with it on maybe once or so during the week with my real hair where I use both on the piece (top) and just the shampoo on the sides, helps bulk up the sides as the conditioner makes it feel thinner, shampoo is enough for the sides when you wash in the shower. You can do the conditioner too, I do that sometimes, or use a little of the residual conditioner from the top and kind of rub it into where the piece meets the hair.
Like BA said, the less you work it the longer it will last you, but if you don't mind every couple months...then more should be fine...I don't really have that luxury, but I am also not going to live in fear of it...or worrying too much, these things really last awhile...plus this combo really helps with fading and color so it actually helps keep your hair usable longer, so you are saving money that way as well.
How do they expect to sell to Ireland with that kinda shipping... bloody infuriating! I've often tried to buy 99% alcohol, desolvit (which I can't get anywhere now) and books on there... but the shipping is a JOKE!!

Before you posted this, I was just thinking "are there any more products out there I could buy to keep my piece looking like new and feeling like new"... your post was the perfect answer
guys i been using it over 1 year ..use debbies n.n it works i use to think it was useless its not.....this combo hold the hair color better then reg shampoo's ... i was in asia 1 month and i am on 2 months on this unit..its holding up great .i get about 3 months out of a unit

i am tough on hair
I just bought this stuff at Target the other day and I have to say this stuff really does work. It's really the only shampoo and conditioner that I've ever used that has gotten a ragged dry old piece feeling silky soft.
Thanks for mentioning this Jake. I ordered online but then canceled the other day and instead I headed over to Target. I bought the pureology shampoo that said it was for straight soft hair so I dont think it was the hydrating one. It still worked great though.

Yes I would try the antifade one, it helps in more ways that just making it soft. Most pureology products are good in that they do not leave the residue and build up that normal shampoos and conditioners do, but this formula helps with fading, retaining color, and if you color yourself, it helps with the color.
Because honestly people dont realize, that when you color with a certain product, they assume it works the same everytime, just leave it in x amount of minutes, rinse and wash....but this is not true, due to buildup and residue...one reason people might wonder that they got a certain color one time and something different with the same exact product. and this is a mjor reason.
The $35 will last a long long time, and for me its almost the same amount as regular shampoo and conditioner.. ie, I have a 35 dollar bottle that lasts me lets say 8 months, which is reasonable, thats less than 5 dollars a month...I buy pantene or infusiom at 5 a pop and it last me a month and a half maybe two. at $5 for two months thats $20 for the 8...yes still a little higher, but really not much, especially by what you gain from it...I would never pay 100 for abottle of something unless it made my piece turn into my real hair...or even cuts for that much, I just wouldnt do it even if I had the money, thats just me, so this is deifintiely an investment!
Sry for the typos, computer is acting up
OH YEAH YOU HAVE TO GET THE CONDITIONER AND THE SHAMPPOO, the conditioner realy makes it for the piece!
If u had to buy just one, which one would give the most benefit. the shampoo or the conditioner? I know u say buy both , but i just wanna buy one to test it. which do u recommend for a test
If you are that interested in shortchanging yourself, then get the conditioner, no the shampoo, wait the conditioner..or the shampoo...
You don't need to test it, it works...
Contact pureology, maybe they can send samples....
If you read my posts, I am one of the most frugal around, and I wouldnt spend it if it werent worth it and the fact that ounce for ounce the cost to you is the same as your regular store stuff.
I trust what you have to say Jake. You pull off amazing styles, and u really know ur stuff. No doubt about it, and i wouldnt even be considering this shampoo if it wasnt for your suggestion. Same goes for the st30 tape. I heard your reviews of it, i tried it, I didnt like it for the front, and it was too strong for the poly perimeter and didnt work for me.
I get what ur saying, u need both products to get the full effect, I guess i just bought so much damn stuff on this wig this past month im sick of buying new products to try. I just wanted to get a lil idea from a one small bottle of this stuffs potential. But if u think that only using one wont do anything for me then ill go by your judgment.
Hi just wanted to put my 2 cents in about Pureology shampoo its true it works very good and like they say here its the best.It is a bit expensive but again as they sya here you just use very little and it lathers up like no other shampoo ive sever tried. I think i wount need to buy any of this shampoo for about 1 year im serious. Take care all Vic
xeon - Its not just the regular price, but the longevity you get out of pieces because of it, the anti fading properties which adds even more value, as well as holding color, or if you color your own hair or the piece, the excellent results, which is less money spent on other coloring products.
And my post to you wasn't to say you didn't trust my judgment or noone listens to me, its that you'll just be shortchanging yourself. I am sure the company provides free samples, just check them out and ask, in fact many time I find samples of shampoos and conditioners in the mail all the time...
Like Vic just said and others have said, it lasts forever, and honestly just ounce for ounce the price is pretty much the same as regular shampoos and conditioners, even less if you factor in the savings from the above.
As for the ST -well I can imagine it would be tough on skins or poly type material, and I think you just haven't really gotten it down for the front, but then again not too many people have...but it will work for it if you get it, so thats not a matter of it works for some and not for others, I truly believe it works for everyone, but sometimes its in the end user that something cant be done, not the product...nothing against you, heck, most of the time I use tape just up to the front and put UH right at the tip in front of it, which I mentioned quite a bit in my posts as well of the ST tape.
Yeah i hear you. Ill probably just get the shampoo and conditioner then. its worth a shot. Just got tired of buying so many things this month is all. lol. But hey thats the name of the game.
about the st tape. perhaps you are right I mean i tried the stretching method etc. Just was too shiny in the front for me. and plus the shape of my hairline is really irregular too. so it was a hassle getting the tape down perfect. Maybe one day ill try it again and find ur other method on here and try that.
I think i read ur method after I got rid of the st30 tape. i only tried the stretching method cause of my irregular hairline and flaps etc
btw jake is there a search method on this forum that i could find posts made by you? Putting st30 tape in the search is turning up 10000000000 results. I would like to find urs with ur attachment instructions.

In responce the the tape being shiney Xeon I was told once on here to take the shine away from the tape brush alittle of that white glue that dries clear worked and it did for me just thought id mention it. Good Luck Vic
Thanks for the tip. I guess ill try it one day. For now i think the blue tape works well for me. I can make it very invisible for the front and the clean up is easy for me after four days.
