Myself and Jrob will be putting on a Toplace convention on Saturday June 28th in Orlando Florida, If you plan on attending please contact myself or JRob as soon as possible has places will be limited and it will be on a first come first served basis.
We will be holding the convention at my condo in downtown Orlando, which is located near SR 408 and I-4, approximately 11 miles from Orlando International Airport, 10-15 miles to all of the attractions, and about 60 miles from Cocoa Beach.
Some of you might also be able to fly into Sanford/Orlando airport for less $$ depending on where you live, you might want to check it out. It's about 30 minutes from downtown.
Anyone wishing to stay close to the convention, I did a quick search on Travelocity and it looks like rooms are going for anywhere from $90-$180 per night.
On the lower end of the scale is the Lexington at about $93 per night (as of this post). It's a recently remodeled condotel, and when I toured it a couple of years ago when they were building it was pretty nice.
Mid end would include the Courtyard by Marriott and the Sheraton at $99, which are both located close to the Lexington at the north end of downtown, 1-2 miles from my place.
My pick would be the Embassy Suites, which runs $118 and is only a few blocks from me (5 minute walk). It is located right on Lake Eola, and is in the center of the nightlife.
At the upper end is the Westin Grand Bohemian, which is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL hotel, and is also about a 5 minute walk from my place. $179 if you wanna splurge....
Looks like the Marriott is running about $119 and is another viable option, although I would just stay at the Embassy for the same $$.
Avoid anything on 17-92/441/ Orange Blossom Trail (OBT) even though it might pull up under downtown. You don't want to stay in that area, trust me.
If you are looking for lower cost accommodations you can try the International Drive/ Universal Studios area, or the 192/ 535/ Disney area. Lots of low cost hotels especially on 192 in Kissimmee.
I am assuming most of you will want to be either downtown or close to the attractions, but if you want suggestions for north Orlando suburbs or other areas feel free to email me.
I believe the plan is to meet up on Friday night for drinks, and Saturday night as well for anyone who is interested. I try to avoid the touristy nightlife in favor of the local stuff here downtown, but if everyone is interested in Citywalk or Pleasure Island feel free to chime in and we can plan based upon what the majority want to do. I would think at least Friday if most people are staying in the downtown area it might be better to meet up around here since everyone will be tired from traveling, but Saturday we can go anywhere.
My zip code is 32801 if you want to search for accommodations close by. I will provide the exact physical address when you email to confirm.
I have lived here for over 20 years and know the area pretty well, so if you need any other info (restaurants, things to do) just email me and I'll answer any questions to the best of my ability.
Look forward to seeing everyone!

Yes Max, I E-mailed you but that bush E-mail keeps bouncing back, You are confirmed but please E-mail me from another E-mail address as that one bounces back all the time.
Nothing really written in stone regarding times we just sort of go along and when we get done we get done but we do like to finish around 5ish as we like to get out on Saturday night and get amongst it.
Just realize I know the manager of an extended stay hotel that is very close to downtown, right across the street from my business.
I haven't been in any of the rooms, but from what he tells me they are studio type with fridge, etc. Their weekly rate is like $179, but if anyone is interested I might be able to get you nightly rates of about $50 if you are staying for less than a week.
It is located about 2-3 miles from my place, and there is lots of shopping and many restaurants in the area. Great Vietnamese food just down the street....mmmmmm!
For more info go to www.HomeSuiteHome.com. The address is 2801 East Colonial Dr., Orlando, 32801.
If anyone is interested let me know so I can try to arrange something with him since they normally don't do nightly.
JRob IAm actually staying in an Extended stay hotel here in North Carolina right now on a business trip. Yes the rooms are great....they have a full kitchen with fridge, stove, and all silverware....only downside to these hotels is that they only clean you room once the whole stay but other than that they are sweet.
Just letting everyone know that we are two weeks away and still have a few spaces available, so let me know if there are any last minute attendees.
Also, I just checked Orbitz and noticed that the Travelodge Orlando Downtown Centroplex has rooms for $69 and is within walking distance (about 1/2 mile) from my place if anyone is interested.
I will be sending everyone an email next week once BA and I work out the final details.
>>JRob,
>>I appreciate you going out of your way like this. Anything (w/in reason) we attendees might bring as a way of saying thank you for your efforts?
Can't believe I missed this one!
No need to bring anything, but if you want to buy me a Stoli and tonic when we hit the town I probably won't turn it down

JRob.....I have a 3 day training seminar in Phoneix that same weekend , so I'm still up in the air as which function I will attend ??
If I dO attend Orlando......u young cats probably don't want an ole dude hitting the clubs with ya'll.....maybe I could do The Haunted House at Mickey Land.
Johnny,
It wouldn't be the same in the clubs without you. You've got to show us some of those 'old school' moves. Orlando is the place for any self-respecting syrup wearer to be on June 28. No more of this waffling. Give your head a good shaking.
hehe Dino......you're sounding more like the mates from across the pond and not like a South Philly lad.....next thing ya know, be driving on the wrong side of the street!!
Yeah, I need to make a decision on either training in PHX that weekend or the convention. ?? I just checked flights on United, and flights are wide open, round trip....I fly on an airline pass and only go if there is a seat. Of course from now till than...that can change quickly !
Thinking if I go, make my way down to Miami, where I lived for 5 yrs., and try once again to find a house I owned there. Could not find it about 8 or 9 yrs ago, they tell me hurricane Andrew took it out !! Also visit some ole friends in Little Havana, that I use to work with at Miami International.
Yeahhhhhhh........just might make it ...like a mini vacation, visit a niece in New Port , Richey.........and go kick it at a club.......New York, New York, on highway 19 in Clearwater.......and visit a bloke up in DeLand that I use to work with at TWA. Maybe I could slip in an out before a cane developes........hate those canes !!!!
I have heard about New York New York.....from my niece and nephew......and travel to Florida few times a year, and always say.......gotta hit NY NY.......I heard the music is great and it's a real fun place !! But I have not been there as yet ???
I have no idea how NY NY is now. The last time I was there, I still lived in Clearwater and worked the night shift. That was almost 19 years ago (I know...I'm old!)
Whenever I drive past there I remember how much fun we used to have back in the day.
I live in Holiday now, just south of New Port Richey. So funny to hear someone talking about places so close to me.
New York City is a very cold, heartless place ..
It is over run with hundreds of thousands of tourists ..
and the popularity of the city is forcing the locals
to spend upwards of 2500 monthly for tomb-like studio
rentals where nary the lifting of a limb hurls you out
of bed ... directly onto the john. Convenience - YES !
Note: If your limbs are long enough .. you don't even
have to leave the bed to relieve yourself ...
But Mayor Guiliani and Mayor Bloomberg have
cleaned NYC up ... so much over the last 10 years
The city is starting to resemble a mall in Stamford Ct.
*********************************
SEX AND THE CITY
*********************************
In Times Square, the seedy 25 cent peep shops and 24 hour
porn movies are gone ... replaced by overpriced theater
productions .... like Disney's Lion King.
***But don't worry, all the family hotels pump in 24
hour porn, 7 days a week.
***************************************
NYC WOMEN, AS WARM AS AN ARCTIC TUNDRA
****************************************
NYC women are as warm and romantic as an arctic sea
lion and it is rumored that at night, they preserve
their hearts deep in the zero degree compartment of their
refrigerators, they are cold and heartless ...
**********************************************************
SQUIRRELS PLAY WITH THEIR NUTS AND MATE GENTLY IN THE PARK
**********************************************************
The elderly jewish men in the 'ancient neighborhoods'
of the lower east side like Essex Street ...
... still wear those 5 dollar 'George Burns'-like rugs
that is ten shades darker than their real hair on the
side and look like an arthritic weasal had curled up on
their forehead and had a stroke ...
Many of these retired men with nowhere to go,
sit on park benches on the weekend and have to fend
off amorous attacks from horney squirrels who dry to
dry-hump their skull.
*********************************
LETS NOT FORGET GROUND ZERO !!!
*********************************
Ghoul buses, at all hours ... from the suburbs pull
up to Ground Zero, World Trade Center Site to gawk at
what now resembles any mall parking lot in America .....
At JFK Airport, an airport baggage handler wears the
tee shirt emblazoned with, "Welcome to New York, now ..
GO HOME ! "
I'd tell you more .... but even LISTENING to these un-truths
.. have caused more than one man to seek voluntary sterilization.
Yep ... strange but true ...
*** Note: The Above facts were taken from The New Jersey
Tourism Guide: NJ's guide to entertainment
Which says ....
Why go to NYC, It's tourist hell .. when you can come to
beautiful New Jersey.
We have the highest rates of toxicity because WE DON'T GIVE A
DAMN. Our drinking water has the most unique taste of bitters
in America because it's pumped in directly from some of
NJ's finest and most richest suburban toilets.
"Hmmm honey ... the water tastes like a combination of
day old beer and rancid honey chicken wigs ... yum yum!"
Bry there is no cost, Just E-mail me or Jrob and we will count you in mate.
Debbie is coming and she will be cutting in pieces, You will see how to apply them and we will show you how to do the maintenance on them.
If you want to go ahead there and then and we have something suitable in your specs you can leave there with a full head of hair these 4 fellas did when they came to The Chicago Convention in 2007
No cost to us members! Amazing BA! I'm so touched at how much you and your team do for us at no cost.
What other company would go to such lengths for it's customers?
BA - you have my email. PLEASE let me know if you need or want me to bring anything. I won't be driving over until late Friday (after work), so drop me a quick note if you need anything.
So who from this forum is coming besides JRob, BA, Debbie, and me? I heard a lot of maybe's but not too many yes replies.
And let's also put out some things that we want to accomplish at this convention. Here's my personal list...
1. I'd like a glimpse at JRob's full caps and to learn some cutting tips by watching Betsy cut in his full cap.
2. I'd like to see one of those i-lace islands if possible--I'm not sure if Reubin is coming with his i-lace
3. I'd like to see the newest thinskin base up close whether it's cut in or not.
4. I'd like to see BA's new tip for knot bleaching that he mentioned within the last few days
5. I'd like for someone to help me color correct a color #3 piece that is brand new but very brassy.
6. I think that many of us have amassed collections of many hair care products, so wouldn't it be great if people brought in samples of their favorite products for others to try out at the convention. I have a ton, so let me know if you want something.
I'm also willing to bring some concealer to let guys and gals try it out to see whether it would help them (but tell me if you want me to bring it or else I won't). If people are interested (again let me know), I can also bring Topsol chromatone spray for people to sample (I personally think it's a GREAT color correction product for people with color 1B hair, but not for medium or light brown hair or blonde hair, so it doesn't help me enough).

Johnny- yes, there's still room left. Give me a shout if you're able to make it....
Snipe- don't drink yourself out before you get down here!
It looks like a bunch of my friends are going to be downtown on Saturday, so anyone who makes it out with me is going to have to get their story straight.
"So...where do you know all these people from JRob?" "Who? These guys? We hang out on the internet and talk about wigs every day!" Maybe we'll tell them it's a rock collecting convention or something, haha
Dino-
>>1. I'd like a glimpse at JRob's full caps and to learn some cutting tips by watching Betsy cut in his full cap.
Here's the cool part. The unit that's getting cut in at the convention is the one with straight hair. We're gonna go total rock star and keep it long just to see what it looks like, then I'll probably have her shorten it up.
>>6. I think that many of us have amassed collections of many hair care products, so wouldn't it be great if people brought in samples of their favorite products for others to try out at the convention. I have a ton, so let me know if you want something.
I have a whole bunch of relatively cheap products, some of which I like, other I don't, but anyone is welcome to try any of them.
I will also be giving out samples of the two conditioners I've been working on which might just end the dry hair problem all together.
After the first drink...
The story is for me "I'm a professional jet skier doing some training on Okachobee and when I'm not on the water I'm a hair model"
I'm xxxkin' serious, so when the hottie asks you, show a brother some love and don't xxck it up for me. lol hahahahmuhahaha
Dino - I'm not making the convention - I was close but I just have too much to do and it's a little out of my budget. I actually checked airfare moments ago...
wow .. I would have loved to ... if I had advance
warning .. but actually .. just found this site
a few days ago and made the commitment to move
ahead ....
And I have to work ....
Great shot .... Wonder why everyone covers up their
face in the photos ... I'd be proud to be photographed
if my hair looked good ... didn't bother Sean Connery ...
or Burt Reynolds ... and everyone knew they were wearing
a piece
