just curious as to why you decided to shave it all off? Did you have a bad experience or was just wearing simply not for you because your hair looked pretty good from the pictures.
I agree with snipe. you are a great looking guy with or without hair!!
some guys simply cannot pull off the shaved head look...but you are definitely NOT one of those guys. you look great..you wear it well. Be happy in whichever look you choose because either way looks great.

Wow, I am absolutely shocked by these responses! I really appreciate the feed back, I truly do.
The truth is, I didn't shave it all off at all. I'm a graphic designer so I removed my hair by manipulating a photo. I wanted to see what I'd look like bald and I wanted to get some honest feed back from you all.
Now I'm really going to consider shaving it for the summer.
Thanks everyone (hope I didn't make anyone angry, very sorry if I did).
i could tell , just wanted to wait to see the responce's your talent is outstanding in computer graphic's ,as for the hair piece, it look's way to thick, and to short, to flat, in my opinion go with a longer style, at least 2 inches, on the top and front
I love when people state their opinion as fact. Has hard as it may be for some to imagine but some people, even females, think a shaved head is more attractive or as attractive as hair. People have all different opinions about everything including hair. As hard has it may be to imagine but not all guys prefer ladies with double Ds either, some dudes even prefer more curvy ladies than others or brunettes to blondes. So please don't state your opinion as fact it's annoying

I almost think you look better without hair. Actually, you could go either way. I'm lucky just like you....I can get away with both. That's why I'm looking forward to going with integrated sideburns on my full cap so I can go with or without at will. That'll freak a few people out!
Seriously though, now that I shave all but my sideburns off, sometimes after I remove I look in the mirror and go "DAMN, I look HOT without hair!"
Whatever works man.
BTW....nice photoshop work. never would have guessed.

Well I think the opposite to most, I think you look old and terrible without your hair, Honestly I dont care if you wear or not that aint up to me, But you look like a young kid with hair I wouldnt say the same with your slaphead.

"In that other thread some yahoo was trying to say that hair makes guys better looking, which we all know is not the case."
As I've said before - it depends on the facial characteristics - simple as that!!
This guy looks great shaved in the above photo, but using a graphic design tool means that we're not actually looking at his real head. It's just an "estimate" of how his skull might look, including the expected curvature. If he really shaved, he find find out he has a misshapen, bumpy skull (like I do).
But if it looks as good as the above, I think a shaven look suits him very well.

the top of is head is his own shaved head (because he wears a piece), I can see that what he photoshopped was taking away his side hair....therefore, this is a very realistic view of how he would look completely shaved. looks great to me!

id say stay with the hair!
a system the way you have yours cut.. is so little maintenance
it doesnt look bad shaved.. but you look much younger with the hair
even though you do have a baby face.

I must be missing something here, I hate using this analogy but without hair it looks like a chemo patient, Wouldnt some of you agree ? The kid looks so much younger with hair or I am going blind.

First thing I think when I see someone totally shaved, AWWW too bad he lost his hair, now he has to shave all of it so you can't see where his bald spot is. Unless you are a convict, bad biker or UFC fighter you will always look better with a full head of hair. Even if the hair is not absolutely perfect everyday.

With hair he looks like a friendly, trendy-ish young guy. Without hair, he looks a little older and a little more "badass." Depends on your personality and what look you're goin for dude.

I think you look great with hair, and the pic without the hair, U look good there too. But we are missing one valid point. And i think it is an important point. The photo of you without the hair u have a certain look in your face, and a certain angle.
What I would do, is use the same picture and compare it. Like the ones above the bald pic with hair, Take one of those and make it bald, and I have a feeling your going to like the one with hair better, when u do a side by side comparison of the same photo.
There is no answer. Some are going to like u better with hair, some will like u better bald. Theres an actor , i forgot his name, but he played a movie with a bald head. I cant remember the movie, but he was like a racist nazi guy growing up, and then he changes his ways. All the girls said he looked better bald then with hair. So it really depends. there is NO answer but i think u could pull off the bald style if u wanted to.

This is just my own opinion and just to note, that I dont yet wear. I hope I don't offend..
Looking at the photo with the piece, to me there's something which doesn't look quite right to me. Can't put my finger on it.
I think you'd look better with hair than all shaved, but I guess you wont truly know until you shave it all off.
I've had a quick play in photoshop but I'd rather not post the photo up without your approval. If you want to take a look at the photo let me know and I'll email it over to you
Is there any reason you want to go for the shaved look?
Re: I'll take your hairpiece if you don't want it!

As others have said, you can get away with either.
Personally I don't like either style myself. Have you tried photoshopping in longer hair to see what you look like?
Short hair styles require more work in my experience than longer ones which tend to be more forgiving.
As for the shaved look, I always think it resembles those terrible old World War 2 photos of half- straved concentration camp victims (their heads shaved to prevent lice).
Either way, there is some maintenance invovled. And with the shaved look you have to be careful that the balding pattern doesn't show through in sunlight, otherwise you're back to square one.

I think that if you were to completely shave your head and get a sun tan on your head then it would look alot better than the pic you have posted. You have a very white scalp and I think that gives you the "as Ba says" chemo patient look. I actually think that if you didn't shave is completely off and just have a real real short buzz cut, it would be a better look. Whatever you decide you will look good because you have a good head shape, so consider yourself lucky.

honesty guy you look decent shaved... look more mature too...
i had a piece on and nobody listened to me at work nowadays...
believe it or not, UBS rejected my application after a strong interview performance, the feedback was "Emery is not mature enough to do the job." LMAO!!!
Yeah i have to agree with that, that was actually my first thought, that u kind of look like a nazi skin head haha. Not to say u look bad. I guess its just the blue eyes, and almost german type features plus the shaved head. I can picture the confederate flag behind you.
Dude in my opinion you look hot without hair. These guys are right, some guys can look hot without hair, others can't. You definitely look hot without hair. Don't take it the wrong way but as a gay guy I know a hot guy when I see one.
Some people say here "either you got good looks/confidence or you don't".. bullsh?t IMO.
I can't overstate the huge diffence in how I'm treated now, compared to when I had great toplace hair.
Some people just looks completely different without hair (me), and some looks very similar - weird thing...but I guess this has something to do with the shape of you face and cranium etc.
Without hair it's like I put on an invisibility suit, at campus and bars anyway. (Yes, I'm a 30 year old student, that doesn't help.)
If you have strong macho features, then you might look very good without hair. I see some bald guys on the street with no shaven/stubble-look, and they look great. They usually are powerful built and have a good tan too. Then I see some guys that looks like complete freaks, and I can see that with hair they would be normal, decent looking guys.
Also if you have young, soft features, a bald head just looks plain wrong IMO. I like to think I still have that , so I can't wait to put on a piece again. However, I realize with one year left with studies and classroom teaching and living with 4 other flatmates - wearing isn't in the cards right now. The practical issues alone gives me a headache by only thinking about it. The first day I'm finished as a student (one year from now) I'm back with toplace, for life! I can hardly wait..
Back to the initial poster. You look better with hair, but you wear a bald head fairly well. It's a lot to do with personality too. Do you have a very strong personality, are you the center of attention in social gatherings, parties etc? If you prefer being more laidback (like me), going bald is no good if you're young and single. It's not like you can't get a girlfriend if work hard enough for it, but the options are a lot fewer. We are all different, but that's my experience anyway.

I'd like to thank everyone for their honest opinions here, it really means a lot to me. I agree that I don't look bad at all with a bald head, although I do think I look better with hair. I do believe that I can pull off the shaved head look, but I think there's more to it than just looks. Life style and personality have a lot to do with it as well. I think you all could judge better If you knew about my life style. I'm 25 y/o, 6ft4", 200lbs - skinny but fit, I go to the gym 2-3 times a week and luckily they have unlimited tanning. I agree that a nice tan would really help me not look like a chemo/skin head. I ride motorcycles (street bikes, not Harleys) with a full face helmet quite often in the summer. You could imagine how difficult this would be for someone who wears a hair piece. I also have a couple sports cars, one in which I've built to a drag car so I guess you can say I'm gear head, haha. As for my career, I'm a Art Director for a well known publishing company. It's kind of strange that my hobbies and career really don't go hand in hand (artist & designer / mechanic & speed freak). I'm also very obsessive compulsive about cleanliness, so wearing is tough for me in that sense (although I'm very happy with the end result). With the above said, I think that a shaved head would fit who I am fairly well. One other thing to note, I still have a lot of my own natural hair, so I'd give myself a solid 5 years before I run the risk of "seeing the outline". I think it would great to be able to wear hats again too! Thanks everyone.
yeah man, at least you have options. thats always a good thing. No matter what you decide, at least you know that you could get your hair back and look pretty nice if u wanted to, especially if maybe you get tired of the bald look and shaving your head when you see the horseshoe in the future. If you enjoy or think the bald look is for you, at least youll have a lot of freedom. Some will think your crazy cause ur system looks cool. But gotta do whats right for you
My opinion is that you can pull off either look, so I guess I'm in the majority here with that opinion. But, you look much younger with hair and I think overall it is a much better look for you. Plus you look much younger with hair, and although it's not that dramatic at your age now, it will be a dramatic difference when your face starts to show signs of aging in 10-15 years. Great topic to start though, it's very interesting to see what you've done with the editing of the photo.
What you did isn't accurate.
You doctored image, in other words, you replaced your hair portion with skin. If you actually shaved your head, you would probably look different.
One area that makes huge difference is SHAPE of your head. You may find when you shave that your head looks flat on the top... so thread lightly.
Between concealors and toplace I had a shaved head for about a year and a half, most friends asked me why I would shave it, as I looked better with hair. I look ok with a shaved head, but they said I looked scary, or mean...as some posters have said. IN fact, when I had my real hair, I had shaved it once or twice and I recall even then one time a young girl (not a girl to pick up type young girl, as I was young then or younger) she was about 15 Id say, I think I was 25 or 26, and she asked why I shaved it, I looked better with hair.
I also did notice, as I went out alot then on the weekends, less responsiveness from the ladies.
Now I have that option if I ever so choose, but having hair, in fact all the "trouble" with the hair isn't really trouble for me, yes it can be frustrating at times, but its become a new hobby for me, tweaking, trying new things, different cuts, coloring, etc...
Yes I run into the, forget this, im just going to shave it or buzz it at times, but I remember the above and just push through those veryvery few times and get over it.
Sometimes I get frustrated and want to throw in the towell..but then I realize the reaction from the ladies..plus my hairstylist said my head would look bad with a shaved head and that I don't have the right hear for it. Plus how else can I get the cool spikey look straight out of a men's magazine?
With scalp protector and ST I am good to go and no more headaches from the dreaded UH.
I shaved my dome today and I feel great! I'd like to thank everyone here for the support over the past few months. I decided to shave my head because I feel that I look pretty good with no hair. Don't get me wrong wearing wasn't that bad and Toplace makes a great product. I loved the result with my hair piece and maybe I'll be back one day.
Anyway, I've got 2 brand new systems that I'm looking to sell along with a couple brand new never opened adhesives. I'll make a new thread very soon with the details.
Thanks again everyone!
PS. You can find me over on slybaldguys.com forums now.
Traco, interesting in that I find shorter wigs t/b more forgiving than longer ones. E.g. when the wind blows the shorter ones look better and they dry a lot faster when wet, too.
BTW, I shaved my head and it felt great for swimming and sports in general, but my wife hated it and said that I looked like an Auschwitz survivor. I am all of 5'7" and a buck forty weight-wise. A good friend of ours is a 6'5" body-builder, w/a peaceful cuddly bear personality who would not hurt a fly, but w/his shaved head many characteize him as a neo-Nazi nut-bag. It all really depends upon w/what cards you are dealt from nature on how you look, plain and simple - dumb luck, nothing else. W/Toplace you can tweak it a bit, bald-wise.
Even for the few who have beneficial facial features to support complete baldness (like Z above), the window opportunity is quite small and it's mostly in their twenties and early thirties max. As the aging process proceeds it looks less and less good and it actually starts compounding the old look effects.
But I also noticed that some people don't have a well developed 'self-analysis' skills and so they may think they look good by encouraging each other on a forum haha
I am constantly checking my piece and scared if someone finds me out--then I get cut-ins and get cut down on the forums..the only time it was good was with a Debbie cut. I may go to another convention or give up.
Everyone here is trying to get and give objective ( if not usually overly analyzed) opinions on how to get the absolute best look. Both your pic the other day looked fine. The comments were that one looked better than the other. Neither one looked bad. I quit last time because I was scared of being found out... so I freaked and cut my hair and everyone (coworkers)asked why. they had no clue. Yours looks waaaay better than my HCM systems did. You need to committ for 6months then re evaluate
I totally agree with Bill_w8tr regarding the photoshop, is not accurate and while i was reading the long thread i did not believe that no one mentioned it.
First of all, you are not gonna look like that when you shave, NO WAY. You will see parts of your head with hair and others without, even if you shave it everyday ur head won't ever look unified (some portions with hair others bald, etc)... and in my opinion that sucks, and that is the main reason why back in the day i switched to hairpieces. At first when i was losing hair i shaved and i looked amazing and handsome, but when my alopetia speeded up my head lost naturallity and everybody could see i was shaving to hide something
On the other hand I think that your problem could lie more in the hairpiece style. In my humble opinion the look should be improved big time, it looks pretty old, basic, kind of 'geek' to me (no offense)
So to sum up, sorry to disappoint you but i dont thing you will look like in the pic if you shaved, so If I were you I would try some cool spikey style or at least something more up2date, that will help your hairpiece appearance a lot, I promise!!

Z stated the new forum he resides at. Take a look on there for his photos. I think he pulls off the shaved look quite well. The photoshop isn't too different from his shaved head shape
