going lighter!

Hey all

What's the right way to colour hair system lighter?

Currently kinda darkish brown, with noticable reddy tint. Not happy with that, wanna go to a light brown colour, without reddy tint? Can this be done DIY?

Thanks on advance for your advice.

Regards

B

I need to take mine lighter also, but i have been told that the way the hair is processed; bleached, stripped, curled and then dyed, that if you try to lighten a darker piece to a lighter shade you run a high risk of getting a green hair piece. But I would love to know if its possible...

I lightened both of my full caps I have now with a bleach/ shampoo mixture. Shampoo acts as a buffer so the bleach isn't so harsh. Watched Betsy do the first one then I did the second myself. Don't go crazy tho....a few weeks and washings and it'll fade on its own. I only lightened mine cause they were entirely too dark to work with, and I only lightened as much as I had to in order to pull it off until it lightened on its own.

JRob,

What exactly was your mixture, and what was the procedure you used? My piece came in a brownish green from the factory. So we had it "professionally" colored and it came out way way to dark. I can now go to vegas and make money on the walkway doing elvis impersonations.. wella wella (no I am not selling a famous brand of hair products..lol ) So toning this thing down a little would be helpful. I have been using Johnsons baby shampoo at the suggestion of another member in here, and although it worked a little on the first shampoo it has had no effect since. When i wear the piece i feel like i look like one of those 85 yr old men that dye their hair black ( basically the male version of the blue haired ladies.) Help!! I have dyed my hair and I can't get up!!

So any other helpful hints would be appreciated...

Don't remember which bleaching product I used but it was an off the shelf kit, and I just mixed it up as directed and added shampoo, maybe 50/50 or a little less shampoo. Betsy wasn't too particular about proportions so I wasn't either, but I think I left it on for 20 minutes or so to get a shade lighter.

Your results may vary.....take it slow, you can always do it again.
