I bought it--tried it--multiple times..even stained my fingers with it...and it never really did anything noticable. The crown still had solid black knots.

If not, Wella sells a product that works great:

Wellite Creme Lightener

I've used this a bunch of times and it really, really works. I even took (an old) 1B unit and bleached it to just about total white.
Works fantastic on the super dark knots that you get with the darker (like 1B) hair colors.
Mix with 40 vol developer.

You're doing something wrong, I've used Debbies kit on four different systems and it works perfectly for me.

I've tried it several times, following the instructions precisely (1B colored hair) and it didn't seem to do anything to lighten the knots. This is multiple tries on a couple of units.
The Wella product that I mentioned above works, for me, great.
No problem with it at all and, for me, it DOES lighten the knots.

I've followed the instructions to the "T"

Anyway, the Wella works great, no heat thus no worry about "not enough heat" or whatever.

bottom line is for over $200 now, there is absolutely NO way you should have to worry about bleaching knots...

like, buy a new car and paint it when you get home...

thanks guy's for the reply's, im going to give debbies kit 1 more try, and apply a little more heat this time, if no dice , then i go with fred's idea,. just a wee bit disappointed with this and the density, i ordered 68% , it look's like 45% in the front(very few hair's) but it's not been cut in yet. the guy i go to for my old hair pieces said he would still cut them in for me for 50 buck's , can't argue with that, hopfully after the bleaching and cut in it won't look as skimpy as i think it is

Basically you buy some Wella Wellite Creme Lightener and any 40% creme developer. Inside the Wellite box are packets of powder and a bottle of liquid. In a plastic bowl and with a nylon brush, mix 1/4 of the contents of the Wellite bottle with one sachet of the Wellite powder, then double the quantity with the 40% creme developer. The bowl now contains a thick blue gel-like paste. It's enough for four or five units, but this is very inexpensive so don't worry about having leftover mixture.

Keeping the hair out of the way, brush this thick paste on the underside of the lace. It's so thick it shouldn't seep through. Wait about 20 minutes to a half an hour (this time can vary according to how dark the hair is and what batch it's from etc). Then rise out the paste and shampoo the unit two or three times until it smells like it's free of all bleach.

Some batches of color 1b hair can not be bleached at all, no matter what product you use. You destroy the hair but can not bleach it. When it happens to me I either send it back or, at my own risk, use the RIT dye remover method. I mix RIT with hot water, apply to the knots and wait for about 20 minutes, sometimes for 30 minutes. The more you wait the better will be the bleaching but also the more the chances of you destroying your piece. Then I wash and condition my piece, and let it dry by itself. Next day I do the regular bleaching job, with any product I find at Wall Mart. It works for me, but as I said, it's risky.

The new factory seems to have gotten a little lax about the knots. The last two customs that I received appeared to have not a single knot bleached and I had even instructed that all the knots be bleached on the last unit.
The densities, lately, seem to kinda be all over the place also.

What can we do? I am experiencing so crazy densities on stock that make it look like I have a fro, haha...plus on SFS I always see the black knots--regardless of them telling me "they are dyed"

I know dyed knots--my first piece--I didn't see one!

I raised this issue on the forum a couple of weeks back after having got 1b lace units lately with unbleached knots. BA responded that he is aware of the problem and has raised it with the factory, so it may get resolved soon.

In the meantime I have ordered Ilace which guarantees no knots will be visible.

Quick and easy solution, works every time, has "easy to read" instructions and you can buy it anywhere:
http://www.folica.com/Jerome_Russell__d659.html

I also keep mine for reuse after opening, and have no problems.
