yeah especially with that style. I wouldnt think it was a wig. I see what madbull is saying tho. its very thick at the hairline. but he i also think he could pull it off. But I dont recommend most people doing that at all. what works for one doesnt work for everyone. is that a skin piece
With a dark color such as violet/black, its going to give a thicker effect at the hairline. Coloring the hair also fattens the cuticle, so its naturally going to thicken up.
After a few washes, it tamed down nicely. This was right after the hair color, so the color naturally stains a bit more at the hairline, even on a 'non wig wearer'.
I work at a salon with 20 girls. None of them have ever questioned if this is a wig. They have even washed my hair before! Trust me, they are vicious about some of my choices in clothing, so they would definitely attack if they thought it was a wig!
Just a picture to show that trendy hairstyles can be pulled off with a wig. A little blow drying and gel can work wonders!
Thanks men! Looking forward to the new extra thin skin units that Toplace are offering! Hoping to get mine in very soon!

One thing that helps when you want a higher density on top and your sides might not be as "thick"... I like to do a fade haircut. Start short at the nape and fade up to more length so that when it finally reaches the hairpiece, you see a natural blend.
yes, I've seen James in person and although he wears a higher density, he can pull it off. he is very young, handsome and trendy so nobody gives his hairline a second look. really now people, who would ever expect this trendy style to be a hairpiece??!!
He pulls it off famously!!!!.......and he works with a bunch of hairdressers!!! I love it!!

James, your hair looks really good! I agree with others that the front could be more faded, but I understand about the effect with hair dye. I am a professional artist (and thus picky and critical and from those photos I wouldn't know its a piece. Nice style too!
I am trying to find out about skin base units and I'm wondering if you can tell me more about yours?
With your thin skin unit how is the hair attached to the base? (injected, looped or knotted?)
Does the hair look natural at the base? (are there visible loops or bends?)
Is your unit ALL thinskin?
Also where did you get it?
What kind of hair is it? (HH, Remy, etc?)
How long does it last?
What do you use to attach/remove?
Any info you can give me would be very much appreciated!

My hairpiece is a thinskin unit from a Virtual Reality hair salon. I had it sent to BA to get duplicated.
Its an all skin unit. The hair is Remy, I believe. The hair is injected and you do not see any knots or injection sites.
I love thin skin units. I think you will like them as well! Make sure you specify a thin skin unit with invisible injection sites. These are night and day different from a stock poly skin hairpiece, which can be very thick and very "fake" looking, especially if you want to expose your hairline. Plus they are usually thicker and not as comfy!
I used to have the tail all the way down the back to form the full mohawk. I cut the back off recently because I got sick of keeping it sticking out and spiked.
I guess you'd call this style a "faux hawk" rather than a mohawk.
