St-30 help

I am a hair wearer for 10 odd years but new to St-30. All of you seem to be having a great time with it whereas my bond breaks in less than 2 days at the most. I have used it twice and both the times, as soon as I had showered the side of the lace came off of the tape and I needed to really push it downwards because I had been in a hurry compromising my style to hide that idiotic bump - if you guys know what I mean. I usually cut it in pieces to stick them up first on the lace and them on my head. I am looking for it to last 10 days and that would be just heaven if it does!

No, I don't sweat like a pig and no it isn't that hot here either.

Cheers mates!

ST-30 sticks 1-2 days max for me. You'll be instructed to clean your lace, clean your head, use antiperspirant, warm it up with a hairdryer first, etc. etc... and you can go ahead and try all those things-- but for some cases for some people is just really doesn't last that long.

Clean scalp with 99% alcohol then wipe of, Press tape FIRMLY to piece and FIRMLY to scalp, Everything being clean does help and no bull I could go for 2 weeks with this tape mate.

Re: St-30 help

As a wearer for about four days now, I haven't had any problem with ST-30 not sticking, except on the very back of my head when I wake up on the morning. BA just wrote earlier today that the solution is to put one thin layer of glue on your head, where the tape will end up going.

I also used Debbie's scalp protector. I don't know whether or not that helps, but it doesn't seem to have hurt any.

My big problem is getting the backing off of the tape. It took me hours to do last time. I've read since that I should rub the tape onto the lace with extreme pressure before trying to peel the backing off. I guess I'll try that next time.

Also, I haven't yet figured out how to get the tape all the way up the edge of the lace, and then I have to glue the edge down with glue, which kind of defeats the whole purpose, I should think (i.e., there will be a glue mess on the lace to clean up). But I also have found in the archives suggestions on how to deal with this, so I'll try to try them out next time.

It would be nice if someone would write a FAQ for these sorts of things. I have my own personal one that I've been building. Perhaps I'll try to write it up into something postable.

To help peel the backing off the ST30 tape, Bend it in half about 1/2" from the end then straigten it back out then peel it.

I use tweezers dipped into some alcohol, makes it a lot easier for me to peel the backing off ST

I've found that ST30 will come right off if I shower right after it's applied, so normally I wait until the next day to shower. I change it out weekly, but I bet I could go far longer. I've yet to have it come loose except if I shower immediately after.

yes, with ANY adhesive, there is a cure time. one should always wait 12 hours before allowing there hair/head to get wet.
for example, if you work out alot, try to apply your new piece on an off day.
