Say goodbye to DRY Hair

Okay....so after getting extremely frustrated with DRY hair, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I tried quite a few different things during the course of development, and hands down the most effective ingredients for keeping the hair looking and feeling natural are A) Silicones, and B) Natural oils.

Once I realized that it was the oils in a silicone base that worked wonders on the hair, I started experimenting with different formulas, and I am happy to announce that I have formulated two different products that are proving to be very effective, and I will be introducing them at the Orlando convention next Saturday.

The first one is a lighter, sprayable formula that is designed to be used like a leave-in conditioner. The right combination and quantity of oils give the hair just enough "weight" to look and feel natural, and the silicone coats the hair shaft locking in moisture. Now, for the first time since I began wearing, I don't even have to use any styling product to make my hair look natural. In the past I didn't have that luxury

The second product has similar ingredients in different proportions, and is much thicker and more concentrated. A few drops rubbed into damp hair provide a barrier locking moisture in, and maybe more importantly, keeping bad stuff from styling products from absorbing into the hair. You can also add a drop to your favorite styling product. This slightly alters the way most styling products work, but the results I have gotten have been simply amazing.

I will be passing out samples to the crew at the Orlando convention, and hope to be able to officially roll it out soon.

I want to get some feedback from other wearers, so after the convention I will announce all of the details. Stay tuned.....

I use moisture block from Sabino. It works great for me, plus it is a silicone base and locks in the moisture and leaves your hair feeling soft and beautiful.

A straight vegetable oil is going to make your hair a mess.

I know this because although I haven't smeared straight veggie oil in my hair, during the course of my research I did try several bar shampoos that are made only with saponified (made into soap) vegetable oils with a bit of extra oil added to help condition the hair, and it made the hair absolutely NASTY. I imagine that it might work well on growing hair, but the processed hair soaked up the excess oils like a sponge and after just one washing the piece felt like a greasy mop head.

And I wouldn't try WD-40 if I were you....

Did a little Google search on that Sabino stuff. Same principle.

I found the ingredients list and all it is is cyclomethicone and dimethicone, which are the two components that help to seal the hair. The difference in my stuff is the addition of a small amount of oils and silk that help improve the texture and feel of the hair.

Moouse ... and Not the Chocolate Variety

June 24 2008, 1:03 PM

A question. I am a soon to be hair owner ...
but not yet ... in the last two weeks ... all
of a sudden ... the remaining hairs which were
so beneficial to me using prothik and toppick ..
have decided to say 'Arividerci'. And went south
like the annual flight of the himalayian mocking
bird (I know there's no himalayian mockingbird ..
just kidding .... it's slovakian!

I've always used gel or moouse (even though I can't
spell it) on my hair ... to give an overall slick
look (as well as make the overall look more natural)...

With toplace hairpieces ... can you use gel .. and
moouse?

By the way, I looked at Farrell's site
and I'm not sure what all the hoopla was about ..
The fronts of their systems looked like straight
lines ... like direct from Frankenstein's laboratory.

Talked to John at Toplace .. cool guy. Also talked
with this guy mhrw.com - mhrw international .. a company
that says you can make your own pieces cheaper
(but he certainly wasn't comparing the pieces
to Toplace's prices) ... and I said to the MHRW
owner that your website is confusing ... you have several
different prices for ordering something on different
pages and which one is correct. I'd like to order.

He went ballistic, calling me an idiot for not
understanding his chaotic webpages. Well .. that guy immediately lost a possible 400 plus buck sale and maybe
several thousands down the road ...because I almost bought
his make your own -wig kit.

Thank GOD I did not give this lunatic
my credit card number ... he'd be probably on flight
with the himalayian mockingbird above.

On the front page of the toplace website ..
those first photos are the most realistic hairwearers
I've ever seen. Hair Club for men scares the bejesus
out of me. When they say how realistic they look ..
I just think .. "HEY ... CLEAN THAT MIRROR off!" ....
JL Alternatives look great, but we're talking about
paying the prices as if you were buying a new Volvo
every year for your hair and then scheduling and
maintenance costs that could buy me a small condo
on an exclusive Thai beach.

My cousin went for hair transplant surgery 10 plus
years ago in Pittsburgh (they run a ton of infomercials).
To this day, everyone in the family feels sorry for him
when they see how the company deformed the top of his
head.

Hey, I admired Sean Connery's James Bond as a kid ...
and how his perfect hair stayed in place. Little did
I know .. that Sean Connery's hair also went the way
of the southernly heading mockingbird ...

Nice to meet you all. Now you can start the abrasive
comments. Yes ... I'm a newbie and I'm proud of it!

I think the kit is good if you need to do touchups or repairs. Thats a nice skill to learn. But to make your piece from scratch, do you realize how tedious it would be. Plus no way are u going to do it as fast as people who have been doing it for years. it will take you forever to finish that thing.

Did the formula debut at the Orlando convention? If so, how was it received?

LOL @ the Astroglide....

Actually, the main ingredients in the Blue Max Climate Control Serum are nearly identical to what is used in expensive "personal lubricants", believe it or not!

Leslie- I am considering a second formulation of the Revitalizing Spray that could help to balance the shine. For me, the spray gives more of a matte finish which I like, but depending upon the condition of the hair it might be beneficial to add a touch of shine to it.

Also, as I explained to everyone about these two products- please, please, PLEASE experiment with them, and report your results so I know if it might help to do some tweaks. I know that they react differently on hair of various condition (i got a completely different result with "new" hair than I did with pieces that are months old).

Another thing is that both Leslie and I are using them on FULL CAPS, which is different from toppers. I am curious to get feedback on whether or not the spray might help cut the shine for guys who complain about that on a topper, and how the serum might be used on growing hair to bump up the shine to help the two match.

Oh yea, and everyone I gave a piece of the sticky film to, let me know if it works as well for you as it does for me. You can only buy it in bulk quantities, but if the response is good I might consider checking on getting big rolls cut down so you don't have to buy 4000ft of the stuff. You wouldn't use that much in a lifetime of wearing!
