I go back to school mid August and want to finish this transition from HCM to Toplace asap.
I'm from CT, Live roughly 45 mins from NYC and I was wondering if anyone had any contact info for any top notch stylist that works with toplace. This would include measurement for a full cap, advising me on the correct options to include with my order, etc.
there are at least two. Didi and Erin. their contact info can be found on the toplace recommended stylist page. click at the top on RESOURCES and then on TIPS.
they are both top notch stylists.
DebbieS.
Do a quick search. This has been discussed several times along with different people's experiences with both of them. Basically you probably won't go wrong with either.

ERIN:
Former Farrell stylist.
email: totaldiva72@yahoo.com
telephone 646 765 9027
Erin is in Bayonne, NJ ... a 30 minute
trip from Manhattan taking the PATH train
and Light Rail
Erin's rates:
$100 for one system and $50 for each
Color refreshing and correction $40 and up
(depending on hair length) $60 for attachment
service which includes cleaning system, trimming hair, style (men andwomen), $40 for tape molds and order form help
Didi: 16th Street off 5th Avenue
and a Queens location (her Home)
646-932-1108
dilianaself@msn.com .
75 bucks to make a template
80 bucks if you come once a month for hair
coloring, readustment ...
I think it's 250 bucks to cut,
color and style 2 pieces ...
You can read about my experiences with DiDi
on here ... if you can figure out the search
process. I'm presently starting with her ...
Dan .. just wondering if you chose
DiDi or Erin to work with .. ??
I might give them both a try over time ...
see which one is the better stylist as they
both worked side-by-side (according to DiDi)
in Farrel's salon ..
of course Dan, if you come to the Windsor Convention ..
we might find Debbie blows them both out of the
water .... at bargain basement prices because
you don't have to cover high NYC overheads ...
plane fares are like 175 plus tax (roundtrip)
to Detroit and B.A. is putting everyone up and
giving them a free hairpiece ... WOW !!!
this is better than hitting the NYC
lottery ... because there's no tax !
"$100 for one system and $50 for each
Color refreshing and correction $40 and up
(depending on hair length) $60 for attachment"
wow so you have to pay $60 just for her to slap the piece on your head and then another $100 to cut it? Couldn't you just say "here, let me slap this piece on myself" and save yourself $60?
Mo , Im not one to tell anyone how they should spend their money so this is purely your decison to either see the value in the services Didi and Erin provide or do it yourself. The best I can offer you is some personal experience with Didi and how she was helpful to me.
Didi will not only do the cut in , she will style, color and cut your hair to match. She also matches color which in my mind is critical to wearing successfully. She also teaches you while she is doing it which is another bonus. The cutin for me went about 2 hours , she has to pay very expensive rent in NYC and she definately provides a ver professional service. She will also give you her cell# just in case you have any problems and also guarantees her work.
That said I now do it all myself and I'm actually saving money since I color , cut and style my own hair now. I never dreamed this would be possible but its cheaper vfor me to wear now that I do all my own maintenance. I dont think I could have done this wihout Didi's help so I hope you're getting the value here. Also in the future I'll be doing my own cut ins , Didi was so good she put herself out of a job with me .
Best wishes and good luck on whatever decision you make
Yeah due to me totalling my car and my weekly changing work schedule, I haven't gotten to go to her yet.
I was just going for measurement, not attachment. Too late to make the transition this summer since schools starting up in a few weeks so I'm going to unfortunately stay at HCM for another 2 months and make the transition in the mid fall.
Gotta get the full cap measured out within the next 2 weeks however.
Whens the convention again?

you can always go to Erin if you are on
a budget. She operates out of her home in
Bayonne NJ ... probably easier to drive to as
you can park there ....
and since she's not kicking back 5th Avenue
chair space to the owner ... her prices are
a lot lower ...
I think she was like 40-45 to get measured ..
I'd give all three a try to see who you like
... DiDi, Erin ... and if Debbie can reproduce
what you like ... well ... like they say ..
why pay for it ...
The UPS delivery man shows up at your door
... hands you the package ...
you just have to be your own
'placement director'
but like .. I think Mike H said ... Didi includes
coloring ... matching .. cutting your hair ... and
training ... it's the whole nine yards with her ...
Wish someone would give us a review of Erin's work
on here.

Ah well no car would eliminate the possibility of driving. Rather take a 40 min train into NYC to Didi. I just can't wait to make the transition. So sick of straightening my own hair after showers to give a thicker appearance with my system etc.
...and I can vouch that Erin does a top notch job.
I visited Erin for a template and then a few months later for a cut-in of my first 2 Toplace pieces.
Erin made my whole transition to wearing a really comfortable and an absolutely positive experience. I could not have asked for more.
I travelled about 7000 miles to visit Erin (albeit, I was in NY for other things also), but the trip from Australia via Korea was certainly worth it for a newbie like myself.
I would not hesitate recommending Erin for any type of service (cut-in, template, etc)....I have posted pictures previously on here of Erin's work - search and you will find.
Naturally, if you cannot get to Erin in NY, I would also highly recommend Debbie's service - cannot beat Debbie for service, quality and absolute professionalism also.
I have seen work done by both Erin and Didi and can highly recommend both of these stylists for services.
I know you will not only receive great service from them, but you will learn something while you are there.
Don't hesitate to book an appointment with either of them if you are in the greater NYC area. you won't be disappointed. They are both highly experienced with hair systems.
