They got the lace type EXACTLY RIGHT. It has smaller holes than my last 3 SFS STOCKS and the exact same size holes as my first STOCK from the convention which I believe was probably french. This will keep me ordering custom instead of SFS stock because the hole size is different.
What do I do about the plasticy ring around the lace? It seems there is a 1/2 plastic edge around the entire piece. I haven't seen this before because I always ordered stock.

Agent;
you just cut it off. all customs come like that.
Are you telling me you made that big long post ealier and you hadn't even RECEIVED your new unit yet???? I thought that is what you were complaining about. guess I misunderstood.
DebbieS.
THe long post is about the old pieces--every stock after the convention.
The new piece NAILED the right type of lace!!!! FINALLY! I want someone once and for all to tell me the original stock I got was actually French. I am going to post the pics.
And the cut looks KICK ASS! I guess I will just go around with sissors and cut the lace. I just hope I don't mess up the curvature of the front by doing this. I think people said cut to within 1/4 inch or 2 lace rows of the hair.

the tag indicates the back of the piece. just use cuticle scissors and cut off the excess lace. leave about 1/8th to 1/4 inch in the front. do not cut into the hair, simply cut the lace off. I emailed you to explain.

AS, if you cannot work out which way the piece goes (ie. label at the back) is it possible your previous knot problems are due to you having the stock pieces on sideways or back to front?

i said it many post's ago, the/one on your left post is sfs, but what do i know, after wearing for 25 year's,in my opinion, sfs is over rated, french 64, is the easyest to apply, and longer lasting, this is just my 2 cent's

TRUST ME ! FRENCH LACE IS VISIBLE under some lighting conditions, SFS did not show up under the same lighting conditions, I spent about 8-10 solid hours doing these tests under all types of lighting.
French Lace wearers dont get alarmed you would have to be under those lighting conditions and people would have to be real close and looking for it, But the fact is you are not wearing the most undetechtable, Trust me that is SFS and if anyone wants proof ask me at The Windsor convention and I will show everyone.

Well, french is invisible on me, Ba you checked my HL out pretty good in Orlando, and couldn't tell. You seen me in a few of Toplace pieces, even in your old place with the bright lights and every time you try to see my HL and it always looks real, because I know you're dying to say, "trim that lace back ya' bloke".
That's because of the high density so I don't have worry about lighting because you can't see the lace.

I think that the reason French lace disappears better for some of us is due to our complexion. On my skin, the SFS has a slightly more visible grid pattern. I've been wearing for some 4 years now, and I noticed early on that the top of my scalp is darker, I imagine it's due to years of sunshine on my bald noggin. The scalp under my growing hair is more white. With any lace, though my scalp will look realistic it is a darker shade compared to the sides & back. It can look a bit odd when wet, or in the wind if you can see both the white scalp and darker scalp areas. I don't know if the average person would notice it.

IMHO French, being thicker and more durable tends to ripple and lifte all the way around - much faster than than SFS.
If someone is exposing front hairline and really wants undetectable, especially if you've got a density of under 65%, you are better off with SFS.
Even if you are showing scalp, if your knots aren't bleached on the ENTIRE piece you risk exposing the dot matrix as well as the super GRID. This is much less of an issue with the SFS. I sit at a computer and have people standing behind me all the time. I show scalp and hairline all the time - My lace has to be perfect all the way around.
Guys who are married, comb down and don't go out much have less to worry about. JMHO.

I have an unused French lace unit where only the front knots are bleached, and since looking at it carefully, this has become a worry of mine. I show some scalp, and so I'm thinking that I'll have to bleach the knots before being comfortable wearing it.
I'm not sure how the knot bleaching is related to SFS vs French lace, though. I'm guessing that French lace units don't typically come with all the knots bleached, since that was the case for me, while SFS units do typically come with all the knots bleached, as that has also been the case for me.
My question is why would this be the case? Why are the knots on French lace units not typically bleached on the entire hairpiece?
SOMEONE PLEASE POST a picture of the back of a lace French piece so we can settle this.
I don't think I could tell French lace from SFS from a photograph. It's very easy to tell the difference by touch. The material for SFS feels almost as soft as a stocking, while French lace feels very sturdy.
If you don't feel a huge difference in the stiffness of the material, then you don't have one French and one SFS.
Despite the apparently fragility of SFS, I've never even come close to ripping one, and I can't imagine how this would happen, short of snagging it on a tree branch, or something, while walking through the woods.
I think the coloring comment nailed it. My piece's lace is slightly darker than the real white SFS I received last time for stock. It didn't hide well. This lace coloring hides well. I will show pics soon to demonstrate.
I'm not sure that you could tell from the color alone. SFS comes in different colors, and I have two different SFS units that are of somewhat different colors.
The similarity in the SFS units is that they all feel soft and delicate, while the French lace feels stiffer and sturdy.
Trust me, if you had one SFS unit and one French lace unit, you would have no question at all in your head as to whether they were radically different materials.
