another suggestion I would make, is that when ur marking ur hairline, mark i slightly under the front lace and leave a small gap. then when u tape it to the marking come as close as u can to he dots without touching them... this way when u go to attach the unit.. u are sure ur not short of the lace.. u can stretch the lace forward in order to reach the tape.. BUt not the other way around. I say this because the biggest challenge with this method is getting it right to the edge.
IMHO its easier to apply it to the lace then place the piece on your head. As the weeks go by, the front frays and sometimes we cut of little pieces, so if you apply the tape on the head, it probably wont 'fit well' to the front contour anymore.
im a little confused on what you mean exactly sesster. having a slow day in the brain lol. But i agree that i think its easier to put tape on lace first, because u can get it right to the edge the first shot. only problem is. I notice sometimes the attachment dont look as good when you put it on the lace first. I get ripples sometimes that are annoying.
When we first get a piece, the front contour is more or less round with very few irregular patterns on the front hairline, so placing tape on the head would more or less 'fit' to the front. After a few washes and frays, the front shape changes, more frays and nicks and nacks. If you place the tape on the head then then piece on top, you will most likely get tape in places that have no lace there. Its easier ad in my opinion better to place the tape on the lace, stick it down and then if there are any small places that the tape hasnt gotten to, just use a cotton bud (Q tip), with some glue and touch up those small places. Job done. Hope this makes sense..hehe im not the best at explaining things..
No I understand you now. Sorry about that. I guess ur right if there is very frayed edges. then it wont be smooth angles like tape. i rather put tape on lace too. Just like i said before sometimes it doesnt come out right for some tapes. The blue liner works good for me tho. Ive used tapes like the USA tape but it ripples when i apply to lace first.
Have you tried applying the tape to the lace with the hairpiece on a styrohead? Then the tape will have the same curvature, and, at least in theory, would be less likely to ripple.
I would like to see how to apply the hair piece onto the head and get it dead onto the tape. I myself apply the tape to the lace and then apply on to my head as I think it maybe easier this way.
Applying the tape to the piece first may not be easier but to me it's very important to have a quality attachment by having the pieces of tapes right to the edge of the piece.
I wear combdown styles and still, I still want my tape to contour my piece perfectly.

I will show you how to do that Ad at the convention at my place in September, But you can reapply the backing back on to the ST30 tape just enough so that you can line up the hairpiece.
stretching tape on lace seems pretty damn hard i would imagine. Lace moves and stretches. how do u not get ripples doing it that way? only way i can see is pinning it to a styro head and as u tack down u push with a backing hard and stretch, but even that is going to be hard as hell.
