new hp - photos

I have had my hp for a long time now. I have taken the week off of work this week to try to take the plunge and wear my hp full-time. I have been playing around with it. Glueing it and detaching it over some time to try to get better at it. I am having problems with base bond. The bond doesn't last that long. So i have ordered some UH from Debbie. Im also using ST30 which I am trying to remove the shinyness from it. Til now I still see a lot of shiny to it.

Here's some pictures. Please let me know what you think. I use clairol hair color for women to color all my hair and the piece as well.

Please, anyone welcome to critique. Thanks!

The blend and color matching look good, from what I can see. Still too much shine in front, I think. That's why I've been sticking with glue in the front for now.

My stylist says that you can use baby powder to reduce the tape shine, and some folks here say you can tap on the tape through the lace, as an alternative technique.

This is a very good example of dying your own hair and the piece with the same colour, Great match and good blend and Bobs your uncle.

Bro this is just an opinion but if your going to wear why make it look like your still thinning in the front..that front looks like its 30% density....I think maybe thats why you have the shinyness problem.

I started off with a thinner piece to ease the transition & took the density up little by little with time. It stopped people noticing but still felt like I had way too much hair at first until I got used to it.

agree with blend nice . agree with mo...also , you with transition....next time leave it 1/4" longer in front..also switch to blue tape in front not as shinny or long lasting...or drag your finder across tape to dull it...one more thing to to reg. barber shop and let him trim neck to give you that fresh look...not one will have a clue..it will look like a new sumer style cut.

you arent the only one, I too found the st30 too shiny in the front. But that has to do with density a lot. With your density your probably better off with glue. But i would give the blue tape a shot. but u need to rub the backing on the tape hardish before applying to lace.

Wow! I'm really impressed with the texture match along with the color match BA mentioned. It's a good feeling to know the Toplace factory can handle non-typical textures like this. When I order my custom pieces it's a great feeling to think they'll be able to nail my own particular texture if they can do it with yours! As you say, you are upping the density slowly. Here's a suggestion - if anybody questions just say you're rockin the minox and you're a "good responder" huh? Once you up that density to standard levels go forward with confidence 'cause you got it goin' on man.

I am back.I have some problems with my login. It was a problem with IE.

Anyway, thanks for the comments. Yes, I thinned it out b/c I didn't want the instant change. This is my first piece which I will be ordering my next piece soon and ordering a denser piece.

I have attached a couple more pictures for you to see. The first ones I had trouble attaching it. Im getting better at attaching but still have trouble.

The pics show you're making progress. I think you should raid the closest female's makeup bag and find some flesh toned powder, rub a q-tip in it and see if you can't tone down the shine in the front a bit. Otherwise it looks very natural for a thinned look. Remember when you get your next piece and somebody notices less scalp: "I've been using rogaine religiously. I thought it looks a little thicker too."
Ain't nobody gonna think twice after you whip that out.

Nobody ever acknowledges my hair, but if they did I would just tell them what it is. Wearing hair has become rather boring now, I liked it at first when I told my family & friends & they all said "OMG that is absolutely incredible!". Now, when I have occasionally brought up the subject or joked about my hair to them they all shake their heads & just reply that they truly forget it isn't mine. I crave more compliments lol!!!

Jose if you are worried about anyone spotting that then I think your paranoid....I don't think there is a person that looks at that thin hairline and thinks "wig".

I know what you mean Frank, I mention it time to time to my family and they sort of shake thier head and think "Whats he rambling on about" They have absolutly no interest in it whatsover and I honestly think they have for most part forgot all about it, They have no interest and couldnt careless what I do with hair.

Mo - thats only some of my concern. I was just trying to make sure I'm getting it right. It seems like I cannot get the lace at the hairline flush to my head.

I have been using UH for the front and ST30 for sides and back.

I used some of the walker no-shine and its great i think. I attached yesterday my piece completely with st30 and no-shine on the front. Very little UH for the lace that didn't get covered by the tape. Looks a lot better I think than using UH?

I would just go a little more density at the front, It will help cover any little imperfections in your attachment.

But with practise attaching the front hairline with glue does become quite easy, Once you have perfected attachment at the front hairline I belive you will not be concerned as like Mo said it looks good.

BA- I actually got this piece denser at 55% but I thought it was too dense to go from no piece to piece so I thinned it out a bit more. This was my result. My next piece I think will stay at 55%. The transition will be less I think.

I do hope the bonding process will get easier. Like I mentioned I tried Walker no shine tape at the front and I really liked it. Its really easy to put on with using just tape. I will be ordering some.

I will post more pictures of additional attachments. I've been using my piece for about 3 weeks now and quite pleased.

Density is 55% up on the front and 65% at the sides and back from the factory. But I did thinned it out more so I really don't know what density it is up on the front anymore?

HOw long

August 10 2008, 7:52 PM

Gonza, how long of a hold are you getting out of the Walker tape, and since everyone is different, how does the hold of the walker tape compare to your hold with st-30?

I do not know the conture but the samples I got from Debbie were A and C. I used the A and cut it a bit to fit it to the lace.

In regards to hold. I think Walker no-shine held just as good as ST-30. At about 3 days I took it off cause I had aligned it wrong and was getting tired of a small baldish spot I had on one side. I used a concealer to cover it. I then used the C conture but I don't know what I was thinking I placed the wrong side onto the lace and basically messed it up! Just an FYI if you do that it is shiney through the lace.
