Do you just feel that your hair has been taken to a completely new level of realism?
I know toppers can look great, but i have always felt that if the side hair was growing healthy like the hairpiece, it would look just soooooo much better and make big difference, because rather than using the longer side hair of the topper to 'cover' the sides, with full cap and 3/4 i imagine you can just cut the hair there to how you like it no probs and you dont need to rely on the hair from the side of the topper, know what i mean?

Re: people with full caps and 3/4'ers

Sesster, mate...I'm really happy having switched over to full cap. There are definite advantages to the full cap, like the ones you mentioned. The flip side is that attachment requires more adhesive material. For example, I have to glue the sides where there is lace, not just the front. Or you can probably use the st-30, but the amount of tape is much greater than for a topper. Also, keep in mind that full caps cost more than toppers. All that said, I'm happy with wearing a full cap. I think it looks really good too. I never thought I looked quite this good with the topper. But you've got much better sides than I had, so it's a tough call for you. You've posted many pics, but one really needs to see in person what you're dealing with in order to best advise you.
Full caps give you more scope to experiment with different styles because you don't have to worry about side hair issues.
The PSB full cap I'm currently wearing is simply attached with two lengths of tape from each temple down to the base of each sideburn, plus a line of tape across the back. With a combdown front there's no need to even glue or tape the front hairline, the tape on the side pulls everything down securely into place. It's rock steady and ideal for using for work everyday because there's no need for maintenance in between normal removal and reattachments (which take about 10 minutes every 5 to7 days).
In the mornings I just run my fingers through it to style it a bit and that's it - takes no more than a few seconds.
On weekends, if I'm going out, I generally use the SFS/64 with some glue along the hairline.
Yes they do cost more (my last TL was over $300)and take longer to make, but they are still great value.
I would definitely try utilizing your nape hair if it's still good.
The problem with a piece that ends at the base of the skull like mine is that when you run your fingers up through the hair from the bottom there is an abrupt change going from bare skin to lace with hair. that's why I tape just a little below the lace, to provide sort of a transition.
If leaving a little lace was an option it would help alleviate this a bit, but it really isn't unless your piece extends below the base of the skull, which I can't see being easy to pull off.
Also, mine is 3/4, meaning that I left 1/4 of my own hair all around the bottom and nape, I don't come down to the bone in the back, about an inch above that.
sorry Esniper i meant nape haha but you pretty much answered my question with your reply, thanks mate. Would you mind emailing me a pic of your 3/4? If its not convenient no worries mate. My email is haoaifei@hotmail.com
1) Do you wash the piece with it on your head, or do you take it off and shampoo it? Do you do it daily, or how often? (Is it different than a topper?)
2) How long does attaching a full piece take?
3) I have MB's video, and it's a big help. But when is the full piece DVD coming out?
My story: young and balding. I ordered a topper from Toplace's main competitor (it was before I found Toplace... interactive support like what you guys have here is the best), havn't had it cut in yet or anything....I can get away with Dermmatch so far so I've been putting it off. Don't know how much longer I can though. I'm terribly nervous about color and texture mismatch and maintenence requirements and especially about being caught (please no!!!!)...

Dont wash the hairpiece like your own hair, I wash it once a week and just spray it with water the rest of the week.
2) How long does attaching a full piece take?
It will vary but one you have it sorted, 15-30 mins.
3) I have MB's video, and it's a big help. But when is the full piece DVD coming out.
JRob has nearly finished it, I will let him give you the time frame.
Debbie cut in a full cap with a real short style for Jrob yesterday at the convention here, We will post photos in the next couple of days, Think you will all be impressed to see how short we can now go with a full cap.
It only takes me about 20 minutes to do an attachment with a full cap using my back to front, tape and glue combo method.
The full cap DVD is almost scripted and I hope to begin shooting in the next couple of weeks. Just bought a second camera specifically for this, but haven't had the time to get started. Now that the convention is over and the serum is ready I hope to have the DVD and the spray ready soon, so stay tuned for details.
No I just wash my own hair on the sides and back and avoid getting the hairpiece wet as much as possible.
If I use any product in the hir which I rarely do I still only wet it and lightly combing it when styling, Obviously if you have loads of gel in it and it looks crap you will have to wash it out, But I avoid gels and the like for the most part now.
I dunno, I wouldnt go for a full cap if i had good side and back hair to work with. I like to buzz my side and back hair short like a fade, and u cant do that with a full cap. Ur limited to having ur hair almost an even length of about an inch or so all around.
I wont go for a full cap till i really have to.
Oh and btw, have you ever noticed the best photos that have come from this forum, such as MB, Jake etc. are of dudes with TINY friggin systems?

Xeon im gonna have to disagree. The best pics ive seen, dont know his name but he had a full cap i think, freakin awesome, and some others with 3/4 and full just looked the real deal to me.
well i mean everyone has personal preference as far as styles go etc. I just mean the most realistic systems in my opinion have come usually, not always, from those with small hair systems. Jake is a prime example. that ultra fade he had, thats definitely the most realistic i have ever seen, why? because most of it is his real hair. I mean when u think about it, Whats more real then your real hair, or your real temples etc. If u have all real hair, but a tiny lil system on top the size of MB's, u have an advantage.
I agree. I would go for a full cap if my sides and temple areas were useless. But for those who have good side hair and temples. Id think twice before going to a full cap.
When people ask me I always tell them to start off with a topper, but keep in mind that a full cap is an option, even if the sides and back are in good shape.
The reason I say this is that thin sides aren't the only thing you have to worry about with a topper. If you haven't experienced the freedom of a full cap I don't expect you to know, but the many benefits of going that direction take this game to another level. Much easier and less detectable when you get it right, IMO.
Full caps look great and all, but I'm not at that level of side and back hairloss/thinness that I would even consider it.. I can still have my side and back hair down to a 1 or 2 and have 90% or more of the temple area that I did back in high school. I like wearing my hair buzzed on the back and sides, then graduated from a #2 to a #3 into the piece hair.. maybe a #1 to a #2 into the piece hair. A full cap you can't buzz anymore. and I've never worn my hair with any length on the sides since I was around 10 years old.
I'm lucky b/c my mother is a hair dresser. While she doesn't do many guy haircuts.. she is pretty good at what she does. So, I don't have to worry about finding a salon, and people spotting me.. or knowing.
