Here are the photos of JRobs full cap cut in short by Debbie at the Convention here on Saturday, I cannot remember seeing any other photos on the internet with a full cap cut in with this short style, Maybe there are but I aint seen them so its good for me to post these photos for all the people who read my Toplace forum.
Personally I think this is has good has it can get with a full cap, Let us know your thoughts post your comments.
Toronto Dude;
I'm so sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you as I love reading your humorous posts.
This is indeed, a full cap. I cut it down to 3/4" on the sides and one inch on top. this full cap is all lace and to be honest, in order to go THIS short, it would have to be all lace, no poly.
JRob was gracious enough to allow us all to scrutinize him very, very closely. He was such a good sport and thank you, JRob, for allowing us all to be a part of your full cap journey as it is invaluable information to those who are very thin on the sides and may have to go this route in the future.
You are truly an inspiration to many.

This turned out to be an awesome experience. I was hoping to have a new unit ready for Debbie to cut in at the convention, but it worked out well because I realized that I had brought along one of my old ones along to get hair added that I had intended to cut down anyway. After I had the A-HA! moment I put that sucker on and told Debbie to work her magic. She asked what style I wanted and I only gave her one requirement- SHORT. This unit was cut to test the limits of a full cap.
Jill has this unit now and is adding some hair to the crown, but as soon as I get it back I will do a full attachment (in these pics it was only held on by a few strips of tape) and get some close-up shots in good lighting.
Even looking at these pics I'm shocked. I can't even believe it isn't my own hair!
Thanks for the kind words Deb. Phenomenal job on the cut, BTW.
I still prefer a little longer style personally, but I will definitely rock this piece proudly! Seems like most of the guys at the convention liked the shorter one. I think I need some more FEMALE opinions, haha.

Forward ventilation, all #64 lace, the hair was ordered a #7, bleached to about #17, but has lightened to about a #18 since I started wearing it.
The density has thinned as well and is now probably about 70% in the back, 65% on the top.
Incidentally, this unit was ordered from measurements and had little to no recession. I cut a decent amount off the temples to give temple points and cut in a V, trimmed back the hairline, and plucked individual hairs to add recession, so this piece was HEAVILY modified in the front.
Wow! Almost too real looking! Good job! But most importanly, If I'm allowed to say this...GOOD LORD! I have never seen a picture of Debbie before! GOOD LORD, IM FLYING TO MAINE TO GET MINE CUT IN! haha. Oh yeah JRob, hair looks great. HAHA.
Would you believe, I actually think you look younger now than you did when you first started posting here... that was maybe 3 years ago? Must be thos thick sides and decent temples
I reviewed some others pics too that I took from JRob in normal 'every day life settings' outside and inside in Windsor (we usually don't post those pics here) and this full cap adventure fits him superbly well.
I'm fortunate to have thick side and back hair and I have always been aware that those who don't are challenged even more in this hairwearing adventure of ours but I no longer feel sorry for them because this now seems to be a fantastic option for them and I suspect that we are only at the beginning stages of it as more and more people will try it and start sharing their experiences and ideas on how to successfully wear a full cap.
Thanks Mr. Burns. I think the short style helps make me look younger, and the fact that it is indeed a "style" cut that was performed by a professional is key.
And yes, the full temples make a HUGE difference.

Definitely no need to feel sorry for anyone now that we know that even the guys who want to keep it short and conservative have the option of going with a full cap. Can you pull off a fade with a full cap? Obviously not. But that's a trade-off I'll take any day.
And yes, I agree...this is only the beginning! Same as the topper deal. We have been taking things that have been done and improving upon them for years, and things are STILL getting better. I had enough experience with toppers to be able to pull it off from day one, but I'm constantly finding new ways to tweak the unit to improve the realism, and I'm sure once we get a few more on board we will only add to the knowledge base we already have.
The short cut looks very realistic. I do think that the nape area could be improved, for a very short cut with "fade" you'd probably have to leave some of your real hair IMO.
That reminds me, BA once mentioned a stylist in NY I believe, who was able to do a very short fade/buzz cut on a system.
The other aspect of the nape is the "stretchiness" of the skin there, and how it moves when turning or tilting your head. I wonder how the new very thin skin might work for this.
Was JROBS cut stopped at that length because he attached with tape and it would be seen if he went any shorter? If a person was to attach with glue could they go shorter than that as there would be no tape to hide?
we left the nape area with a little length for this reason. on a full cap, if you order the nape to come all the way to the nape, it will loosen every time you bend your neck forward or side to side. so JRob put the nape just below the occipital bone (and not all the way down to the nape)to avoid the loosening issue, therefore, we had to leave the hair slightly longer there to compensate for the base not coming down far enough. I hope that made sense. for anyone wearing a full cap, I know they understand what I'm saying....

looks very good. debbie did a nice job of cutting it in, and the piece is low density and realistic looking when you can see the scalp. I wonder how a full cap cut like this would behave on a daily basis though, especially with more density. yes debbie and jrob pulled off a realistic style of a short hair sytle with the right density and styling,, But i wonder how the look would be on a day to day basis with this unit.
does anyone think that injected skin would be more ideal for short hair cuts? Since the hair is already in a fixed position and wont spike out?

Actually, the density of the piece is a little on the high side on the back and sides, but with the shorter cut and a bit of styling product it makes it appear less dense. With a full cap I would bet that I could make a 75%+ density look good if styled correctly. Actually, both of these units started out mid 70's and they looked fine with product in them.
JRob,
Any chance you could post a photo or two up with a line drawn showing where the actual edge of the unit is ?
I'm more interested in the side and rear.
The only hair that is mine is my sideburns which extend parallel to the top of my ears. The base goes straight across the top of my ears about 1/8" above the ear itself.....I don't put an arch in it. The back runs straight across the base of my skull.
Yes Fred. JRob literally has zero, nadda, no hair on his head except for the 1/2" of side burns on the sides. he walked around at the convention with no hair except the side burns for half the day so that he could show how the full caps work.
all the hair you see, except the ends of the side burns, is full cap.
