BA,

I have to agree with you 100%. This is what happens when a bunch of idiots get on a forum and talk about stuff they do not know about. It was so sad to read posts by a bunch of posers who pretend to be intelligent and post beyond their intellect. Hans, JROB, Zappa, and myself (after Debbie's touch) are undetectable to name a few. After the convention I can't tell I even wear anymore at all. Top Lace is so damn good the convention attendees would have proved them all so so wrong!

"So where did the term syrup come from?"

The same place "slaphead" originated. England, of course! I'll let one of the Brits explain it in detail.

Hang with BA for a couple of days and it's like a crash course in British slang. I have had to translate some words for a few people, hehe

Syrup is short for "syrup of fig", the fig being the rhyming slang for wig. Its Cockney rhyming slang fron London.

Others include "its all gone Pete Tong" = its all gone wrong. DJ Pete Tong is quite pleased with his rhyming slang, however the singer James Blunt is certainly not pleased with his. Refering to someone who has done something stupid, "What a James Blunt"

"Slaphead" comes from The Benny Hill comedy sketch show back in the early eighties. Its listed as the 5th defintion in Urban Dictionary :

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=slaphead

The guy it refers to is the late Jackie Wright. Check the YouTube video at the bottom of this page to see "Slaphead" in action :

why don't people ever think Nole is wearing? I know its all his own, but if people are so blind to think Tony Blackburn is wearing a wig, then why don't they think Nole is bald??? weird how more people get labeled a syrup-head who actually have hair, IE Ben Affleck! (Melonaide? You know its true! )than those who actually wear.
