The Biggest Question Ever--DO GIRLS KNOW?

September 14 2008 at 6:27 PM
Agent Smith  (Login RecedinVA)

I have to say one of the advantages of having hair vs. before not having much has been that it has been easy to hook up with hot young women. However, I am getting the feeling that some of them might know....

One girl I dated said "I would still like you even if you were bald" and fussed about my wax works and said it doesn't feel "natural when I put gel in it." Problem is without the wax works the hair was dry and brittle and you could see color differences between my main hair and other hair. She fussed so much about my hair that we ended up breaking up. Of course we had other problems as well.

Then I dated other hot girls this year. When I wore a hat it seemed like they really liked me. Then I would show up at their place or go on a date without the hat. Several of them (not all) proceeded to stop talking to me for unknown reasons. Now this may be in my head or I may have screwed up the date--but I wonder if they know something is up.

At work sometimes I feel like people do that little nod upwards, like they know something might be awry but no one says anything. None of my guy friends have mentioned anything although if the piece is off a tad or coming unglued I'm sure some of them suspect.

I know going out to bars at dark that no girls know--but during the day and when I sleep with them and wake up in the morning I wonder DO THEY KNOW?

Do they know I am wearing? Do they know how hard it is to get it just right for a big date so it looks perfect? Do they know the stress I have by checking myself constant times in the mirror? Do they know that I don't like to work out because if I sweat, the piece gets nasty and the glue starts itching? Do they know about the Ultra Hold headaches? I don't know what is worse--having girls looking at your hairline before when I didn't have much hair or the fear of being outed.

Do the rest of you (who are young and single) worry about being outed? Have girls said anything to you? My end feeling is some SUSPECT and others don't. One thing is for sure with inet dating--I get 10 times the amount of emails I did before I had hair so it makes it very easy to get dates.

Agent......I have followed your posts the past year and I think you have just hit a new low to this hair wearing game. lol

Do you think the only thing women think about is nice hair? What else do you have to bring to the table?

If your only purpose for wearing hair is getting "hot chicks" then your maturity level is so low I am surprised you can get any "chick". lol

You should be wearing for YOU, and only YOU. If you would take the time to learn what really works for you instead of worrying about what you have to do to score with chicks, then the answer to your biggest question ever - DO GIRLS KNOW? - would be -

WHO CARES!

Sorry, thats just the way I see it.

My take is that if they are cool w/letting 'Mr. Happy' visit them then they do not care about your wig, whether they know or not. Relax, if you are worried about the attachment then change daily or ever other day. That way it will always be fresh.

Try showing a lot of scalp.. or going with a 65% density, or lower, with very short, and wet your hair.. It won't look thinned out.. but it will look very realistic if the knots are bleached well. Do this every once in awhile, and no one could possibly know.

Now, if you wear your hairline too low, or much too high, in relation to your temples.. then that may be a problem. Also, if the color match is really really bad, and/or the density is really really bad, and not blended in.. then it's your fault then.

But, I agree.. this should be done for yourself, not for what others think.

I'm personally not a candidate for hair transplants, and this is my only option other than going bald. And, that bothered me so much that I stayed away from people for the longest time.

I went out to a club last night and I was with 3 women. They noticed 2 guys standing in the corner talking to each other and the ladies were talking about how those 2 guys were loosing their hair. This is what the ladies do notice for sure when they are out. I think people would have to know about wearing to spot a piece.

After Debbie styled my hair at the convention I can no longer even tell that I wear a piece when I look in the mirror. When I started wearing a couple of months ago I always felt that everyone new I was wearing a piece and was a little paranoid. Now I don't stress about it because I look better with a full head of hair. Look at it this way, the right girl wont give a damn at all.

Absolutely right Maxx, I just think that when Agent quits letting 'Mr Happy' do all of his thinking for him he will be a lot better off.

Right now, 'He can't see the forrest for the trees'. lol

I can see how some people would be pretty paranoid if they have a lot of issues with their piece. I know I was bordering on being paranoid sometimes when I wore a topper.

Now that I have a full cap that looks good I don't even think twice about it.

Do you think the only thing women think about is nice hair?

No, but it's much of what they think of. I know this to be true, as I've hung out with a fair number of women who complain that the only nice guys they ever meet are balding, but they just can't get themselves to be interested if the looks don't do it for them.

Of course, there are exceptions. And, they are no-doubt snatched up pretty quickly, leaving them unavailable.

There are also guys who look good bald. Most of us probably aren't one of those guys.

Having nice hair helps get your foot in the door, which might otherwise never be opened. After that, I'm betting it's a 50/50 chance that they will care enough to make a huge difference once they find out, but if you can't get your foot in the door to begin with, then you don't get that 50/50 chance.

Of course, guys are no different. When was the last time you heard a guy say, "I really want to find an ugly and obese, but really nice girl"?

Well

September 15 2008, 12:44 AM

Thanks all. Girls in their 20s do place a lot of emphasis on hair. My problem is when the crown starts shedding--then I get real nervous. It happens usually around the 3 month mark...the rest looks good but the crown looks doll/like. Then it is time for a new piece I guess? I should of bought 2 customs instead of just 1. My custom turned out fabulous!!! Stupid me--I will probably need another soon and will have to get stock.

Girls in their 30s and 40s also care a lot about hair.

You can use Toppik to help cover up a crown that's looking bad. After all, it works fine on a real crown that's looking bad.

Confidence comes from within and many bald blokes pull good looking birds, Yes hair does enhance our appererance but it aint a chick magnet, Truth is you would have pulled some of these birds before you wore hair but you just didnt try because you lacked confidence.

Worked on the script tonight until about 1:30am. About 2/3 of the way finished with that part. Sending my main camera in for audio repairs tomorrow, so when I get it back in about two weeks I should be able to begin filming. Post production shouldn't take too long, so hopefully it will be on the site within the next month or so.

Until then feel free to email me or post any questions on the forum and I'll do my best to help out.

BA is right on about the confidence. Actually, there was a recent survey on one of the big online dating sites that had to do with women's views on hairloss. Almost all women (regardless of age) said they thought a guy with a fully shaved head is sexy and hot, since it signals confidence. (They mostly didn't like the side hair only look.) I'm sure the same is true for a guy with a piece that looks great when worn with confidence.

I also must add, I wear hair for me I will never ever stop wearing because some bird tells me to, I will wear until I decide I dont want to, But I doubt that day will come because I just like having hair on my head, End of.

Re: Well

Do girls notice..? Do men notice..?

The answer as has been said a million times is probably not... and the reason is, they don't care.

You have to remember that what we see on our day to day waking life, whether it be a car, building, tree or table is 90% made up from memory and pre-conceived ideas of what the said object should look like.

This is the same for hair - for people that are not on 24:7 wig spot, which is 99.9% of the world's population, they look at us, realise we have hair; end of.

When I first started wearing hair three years ago, I was paranoid to the hilt. Now... sod it. I wear hair, want to question me, I'll give you an answer and make you look pretty stupid. Want to think thoughts to yourself, do so and it won't bother me.

Like BA and others say - you do it for yourself. You know that when you look in the mirror you look better than a slap-head staring back at you.

Trust me, people don't notice... if a wig is ever off, they probably only think... sort your hair out, i.e. get a hair cut!

Yeah they know.....And who cares?

I assume everyone knows and therefore am not worried about it. If they ask I tell the truth.
IF they ran so be it....I married a beautiful woman who loves me either way. She likes the hair so I wear it. If she did not like it or felt it was gross to be touching the notions some strange Oriental or Indian's biological hair and sometimes sticky glue I would lose it.

It's just not that big a deal if people know. Everyone knows Shatner and Reynolds wore and wear. No one cares other then a few jokes now and then someone would make if one had red hair or spiked haor or ANY HAIR!!!

Most people I work with know , All my relatives and past girlfriends know which pretty much means anyone who knows me or of me knows. People talk...I hope am one of those who give wearing hair a GOOD name and reduce the stigma.... Those who truly believe no one knows constatly worry about someone knowing. If one person knows everyone will....Period.

Shhhh "Don;t tell anybody...but" Yeah it happens.

Hmm.

October 18 2009, 11:16 AM

I hate to be a negative nancy, but this statement:

"First you have to convince me to give a crap about what other people think."

Isn't that a little ironic? I mean, look at where we are, here. This entire industry, this attaching of fake hair to our bald heads... isn't it kind of in order to look a certain way to other people ?

We can pretend to ourselves that we are doing it for ourselves and only ourselves, but let's be real. If it were only ourselves we were trying to please, what would it matter? It wouldn't.

If you're wearing hair, you give a crap about what other people think and see. Case closed. It's vanity. Every human suffers from it in varying degrees, but don't kid yourself into thinking you don't!

Think you miss the point mate

You have bad teeth = You replace them or have them fixed.

Your zip is broken on your jeans = You have it fixed.

Your Eyesight is poor = You wear Glasses,Contact Lenses or have Laser surgery.

You have a illness = You take medication for it.

I could go on and on, See all of the above I would do for myself and couldnt careless what other people thought about it. Same with hair for me, If I can improve things for me I will do it,End of. What others think dont even come in to my thoughts I do it regardless.

For sure!

October 18 2009, 11:46 AM

I'm totally with you BA, I'm not saying we shouldn't take care of all those things, let alone do something about our hair. I'm just saying that it's silly to declare that we don't care about what other people think. Because if we're doign something about our teeth or our hair, for purely cosmetic reasons, it's because it matters to us how we look to others.

I'm not saying that's bad. It's a visual world, after all.

But at the end of the day who does it benefit ? Us or Others ?

The answer is obviously us, So do we really care again what others think ? The answer has to be, No we dont, Has we do it for our benefit.

truth is its a 50/50 split between ourselves and others,we care how we look for ourselves, but we definitely care what others think,if anyone says different i think their fooling themselves, though some are more easygoing than others and care less in general...

I would say if we dont do it for ourselves we wouldnt do it at all.

I aint no people pleaser, Truth is some people like the bald look and some dont, So how can we be doing it for others ? That dont make sense as like I say some like the bald look, I dont so I do it for myself.

I wear for me only, just because. And if by doing so I improve the way I "look to others" well then that is just a nice and welcome coincidence, albeit an obvious one.

My ex girlfriend occasionally pleaded for me not to wear and to shave my head or to make due with what I have.

The guy who agrees with Mathews concedes to such a wish. The other guys continue to look like me and Don King.

Truth be known, There is not a human being alive who wouldnt change something about themselves if possible.

I have known and do know so really good looking women who to me look fantastic, But everyone of them have told me they would change something about themselves.

Dont let wearing hair bother you it aint no big deal in the grand scheme of life, In fact is is a very small issue, Very small indeed.
