Guy at gym busted for wearing.

Hi fellas

Had a really bizarre thing happen to me earlier this
afternoon. I'm a member of a local gym that has a men only wing and it basically doubles as a social club type environment. A large percentage of the members are older dudes who basically just use the spa facilities. Steam room, jacuzzi tubs, sauna, etc... Anyway, I went to get a workout and afterwards I went out the back door to get a little air. There's a patio that some of the guys use to catch rays or play some cards. So there's a card game going on and one of the card players is an obnoxious dude in his 70's or so. Big full head of hair, but a real jackass. One of the other players is a youngish guy in his early 40's who wears a pretty obvious system. He wears it with bangs combed straight down and his side hair is very weak. Bad blend and a pretty crappy color blend.

So they're playing cards and shooting the breeze and everyone's laughing and pretty loose until Tony (older guy) looks at Jimmy (wearer) and says, literally "Jimmy, you're a good looking kid, so why don't you get rid of the rug and just shave it bald like Shane?" (Me) I gagged on the water I was drinking. Everyone just looked at Tony in disbelief and of course I notice everyone's eyes kinda glance at Jimmy's hairline. It was brutal. Jimmy surprised me with his reaction though. He got up and stormed back into the locker room, slamming the door and cursing out this old fool. I thought he would maybe laughed it off because he seems like a pretty good humored guy. I don't know how I would have reacted. The other four, five guys were actually pretty pissed off at Tony and one of the guys asked him why the hell he would say that and Tony was absolutely shocked and could not understand that he'd done anything wrong. Just couldn't fathom it.

Anyway, I've seen other threads where people have asked if they should mention Toplace to guys who wear obvious systems in an attempt to get them some quality, good looking units. I know the guy a little bit, mostly just on a hello basis. But I'd really like to mention that before I shaved down, I'd been wearing for a few years and that I know a place where he's definitely gonna benefit by looking into. Even thought about writing the Toplace url down and posting it anonymously on his locker. The guy's pretty horrified and I'd like to do something for him. Although, I'll probably just let it go, I'd still like to hear what the pros suggest.

Well mate it is sort of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted,But having said that and has everybody knows there would be some value in helping him out as the fact is when you have a good looking piece and you look good you tend not to get comments like that bloke did, If it looks good who really cares ?

Regards BA.

Nothing can undo the past and people knowing but he can fix it with (TL) and move on.
If it was me struggling with a bad looking piece, I'd appreciate someone telling me about TL !
Give him the TL and forum links !

The sad thing is, even thought the guy was obnoxious about it, he was right. Jackasses like this are a big part of the reason why you should shave your head before ever thinking about sticking a dead cat looking thing up there.

You Know When They're Looking !

September 18 2008, 12:07 PM

This is my first week of wearing.

I wasn't going to take a chance ..
Booked with a pro stylist ...
I don't have years to go through
the learning curve many of the guys
went through on here ...
The Technology, Toplace, BA ... and
a bunch of the best guys you'd ever
want to meet .. are on here ..

But one thing ....

I wore concealers for years ... And YOU KNEW
when you had a BAD BATCH of chemicals on
your head .. or you applied it unevenly ..
or you tried to extend it's usefulness
a day or two longer..

Because people when they talked to you
face to face (women especially) you would
watch their eyes gravitate to my hairline ..
It was so obvious ...
Sometimes I wanted to say ...
"Hey .. my eyes are down here!"
They were like 'zombie-fied!'

I haven't had that this entire week
wearing my new and first piece ...

and I've been sitting at a table, face
to face, two feet away from people
in a very very well lit room (natural
daylight from 10 foot windows) ..

Not one eye drifted upwards from my co-workers
friends, customers ...

After 10-15-20 years of donning concealers
.. whatever it has been .. that's a
relief ...

Again ... I'm not a young guy anymore ...
But I could imagine me being the guy you
talked about at 30 .. and at that period
in my life ... when someone walked behind
me and said, 'You're going bald !' ..
Well ..Me being the nice guy I was .. I
wanted to RIP their head off !

My first foray .. has been to keep the same
look ... same hairstyle .. I've had for 10
years ... as I grow in confidence .. This
summer .. I'll go shorter ...

Right now .. it's work, getting a very
exposed front hairline right ...

It's an adventure ...
Now ... I haven't gone to the gym for a
week ... That's my next trial ..
How will the sweat effect the bond
(tape) ... I know the frontal glue
has to be replaced (for me) everyday.

I could go with a stronger glue ..
But for now .. the white stuff is more
forgiving ..!

imagine if it were teeth. would he have said "why don't you take out those denture and dribble down ya chin just like Shane!"

There are these kind of people, I call them blurters. They are the ones that call people out, insult people in front of friends. And when others take issue with them, they always go "what, me, what have I said?" kind of all innocent. I just cant stand blurters. They always blurt out opinionated rubbish!

Id say, just be nice to the bloke and leave his hair alone. If you make friends with him, then maybe send him to BA. But don't leave an anonymous card or letter. That could be seen as an insult even if its not meant as one.

Re: You Know When They're Looking !

I've met a few people like this guy Tony. They usually don't think wearing hair is a big deal at all, so naturally they don't see anything wrong with pointing it out in front of others. Ironically, guys like Tony often don't mean any harm. They are often a lot less prejudiced against hairwearers than others are. One of my former friends was like this guy Tony. Last Sept he called me out in front of my peers. When I spoke to him afterward, he said "I had no idea it was a sensitive topic for you. I thought it was just something you do to try to look better...Nothing wrong with that."

Or Billy-Bob teeth?

Seriously though...

The poor guy must feel pretty fragile now. I'm not sure how long that fella's been wearing hear but comments like that can hurt, and most probably have done to this guy.

Do the right thing and speak with him. Put yourself in his shoes; if he were to come up to you a few days later and say something along these lines:

"Hey, don't listen to Tony. I know you wear hair; so do I. Why don't you try my stylist"

Wearing hair is a funny industry and a funny game. As it's so taboo people almost settle for the first solution they see and stick with that; it's unheard of to recommend.

I'm not being a revolutionist here, but hair-wearers, help a fellow slap-head out... He'll appreciate it.

Jazzy

"If he said anything to me, He would need a new set of teeth "

LOL!

All kidding aside, though. If it were me, I think I'd want you to tell me about Toplace. And then I would switch to a different gym.

Well, the fact is dude was wearing an obviously bad hairpiece, whether or not some jackass called him on does not negate the fact that most knew it anyway.
