I was wondering if SFS responds better to adhesives as opposed to French Lace because it is a more fragile Lace then French? I am thinking of trying SFS but I was Chicken because my first piece is a 1 inch hairline piece and I did not want to screw my first one up. I am at the point where I want to experiment with wearing a different type of base.
From what I hear, SFS is a lot more delicate than French lace and doesn't last nearly as long. I'm not really sure about how it holds up with different adhesives, but I would imagine it is similar to French. I also believe that it frays easier, too, but don't quote me on that as I have never worn it before. From what I saw at the convention, though, I am actually a bit surprised you are wanting to change your current specs. I personally feel your hair looks about as good as it gets...

French lace is stiffer than SFS and will ripple and lift a lot faster as soon as your adhesive starts to break down (and especially if the curvature of your piece isn't really accurate).
As for durability, as long as you're being careful when brushing your hair and cleaning the lace with the mirror slide technique, it shouldn't be an issue at all. The piece I'm wearing right now is 4 months old I think, and honnest to God, there's not a single broken polygon at the front. Almost as if I had cut the front lace yesterday.
Not to mention that in certain lighting conditions, SFS is way more undetectable.
I commonly get 9 ~ 10+ months from my units, either French or SFS.
I've, virtually, never had one fray at the front, nor do they particularly shed.
I'm not sure what some of y'all are doing to go through them so quickly
my thoughts are that if you are experienced and handle sfs carefully, you can get a length of time from it. french lace is awesome for a newbie to get used to wearing thou.
It does vary from wearer to wearer, I know some people on here have had SFS for a year or more, I know it seems hard to believe but I am assured by some that it is true.
I have bought many Toplace SFS units and I get about 6 months average life from
each baised on 24/7 and using Debbies knot sealer. The knot sealer adds a
easy 2-3 months to a hair unit.
I do get about 2-3 months on average (sometimes 4 especially with French)but the SFS starts fraying early for me usually after 4-6 attachments (3-4 weeks). So there is cutting the lace to get rid of the frays. I have no problem with a solid 2-3 months as that is fine for me.
After thinking about this perhaps the variance in length of SFS between wearers may be attributed to how hard you attach/release/clean? I grind my bean up against a wall after I attach, I attach frequently 2-3 times a week and use all tape - yes I converted from glue using 3 mil up front and I am completely satisfied. Never any bleed.
