Hi Everybody. I believe it's time for me to make the plunge. However, it seems like quite a steep learning curve so I hoping some one can recommend a stylist in the San Jose area. I'd definitely go as far as San Francisco. I know TL has some recommended stylists in the Bay Area, but I'd feel much more comfortable going to somebody that some of you have had good luck with. If there's no Debbie's in training in this area I could always fly out and have her do everything for me. It's just that I'd like to have someone to go to around here if I need any emergency help....which I'm assuming I will at first.
I've done some amazing things with Topic through the years but the battle is pretty much over. I think I can still get away with the "change", but now's the time to do it. I'm assuming my style would be fairly condusive to a piece. I dye my hair blue black and pretty much wear it brushed forward in a very haphazard way. About 1 inch all around. I am not going for a clean cut look. I want a lot of recession built in....I just need the thickness back in the vertex area. I'm losing big there right now. I would post some pics, but my camera has gone the way of my hairline. I will be purchasing one this weekend and can post pics then.
I am going to order MB video tomorrow and start getting ready to get on the bus. Thanks so much for your time. I've been a lurker for quite some time and it's really impressive how everybody here really helps each other out..
IMO best advice I ever heard (and followed) for a cut-in was from Vocalist Bob who said to just go to a good women's hair stylist and bring them a picture of the style that you want the wig to be. They then cut it in like a regular styling. If you are paranoid about sitting out in public with your wig then just call them in advance and ask for a time not so busy.
According to stylists there is really no magic to cut a wig, it is hair on the head. The Coolpiece site used to have an description for the stylist on how to cut a wig. San Jose certainly has many good women's stylists since it is larger than SF.
