BA, whenever I see shots of you, your hairline is remarkable. I'm a bit obsessed with finding undetectable hairlines, and in person I've never really seen one that upon close scrutiny, you couldn't detect the lace.
Granted I've never seen you in person and up close under solid lighting, but in your close up photos, it's just amazing.
What do you use on the front, tape or glue, and what kind?
I dont think it is down to what glue you use Matt (More about that below) has I use a few different ones from time to time.
This is how I do it and find it the best way to get the hairline looking as good has humanly possible.
1) Get a pair of glasses (Spectacles) with magnified lenses of x3 or more I use x4 and x5, I cannot stress the importance of these magnified glasses enough, Here is my theory, If you apply the lace
then go and look in the mirror with the magnified glasses on and cannot see any lace or anything else untowards through the magnified glasses the public will not see it through normal eye sight. I always go under the bright light in my bathroom with the glasses/spectacles on to double check the lace at the front and also I will shine a torch/flashlight on to the front to see if this shows up any imperfections.
2) ALWAYS and no exceptions put the glue on in THIN coats and no more than 2 coats, You MUST allow the first coat to dry clear, Again no exceptions, I use several glues, Walker Safe Grip, Tight Grip and I glue being the ones I use most, I never use glues like ultrahold on a front hairline as they are too thick and you cannot get a nice thin coat which in my opinion is critical at the hairline.
3) The front lace must be clean and dry.
4)By keeping the glue to thin coats you should not get hair into the bottom of the hair shaft so the hairs wont stick together, This is one mistake a lot of people make and it makes the hairline look not so natural, You want to see single hairs coming from the hairline not hairs that are stuck together, So if you have hairs stuck together spray 99% alcohol on to a fine toothed comb and comb through the hairs that are stuck together.
5)The above is what I have found gives the best looking glued hairline, I dont always do the above everytime but if I want to get it to look the best I can, I do.
That's awesome BA, thanks so much.
There's so much back and forthing these days on the forums about "how invisible do the hairlines actually get" ... because we've all seen variation on it. If there was a way to ensure that it could be invisible 100% of the time, I'd have already jumped in. This note gets me one step closer.
It wont happen 100% of the time mate and here is why, There maybe a time when you get up in the morning that just a little bit of the lace has lifted while you were sleeping, Also when it is time to do a re-attachment, The lace starting to lift is a indicator that you need to do it.
But having said that for the most part you can wear with very little problem. But if some Hair Replacement place tell you it will be all good 100% of the time they are full off it, But thats nothing new for some of them in this business.
Yeah, I know it will lift on occasion. A little lifting, especially with a comb-down style, doesn't bother me if it's occasional. I just don't want girls I happen to be dating to wake up next to me and look over and see this weird lace at the base of my forehead. Kind of defeats the purpose of improving one's looks!
I know Dav, They are the business aint they ?
Like I said if you cannot see anything wrong with the attachment looking through magnified glasses and right in front of the bathroom mirror under lights, The public have no chance seeing you from a foot or 2 away face to face.
