Well i have been wearing now for about one month, and have been through a number of emotions.
I was almost bald so the transition to wearing a piece has been very noticable. But i have a good colour and density match with my all lace piece, to my own side and back hair so it does look good.
I would have worn a piece when i first started going bald but there was nothing on the market that looked good like these lace pieces of today.I did go to a hair salon a few years back, paid heaps and got a piece i was embarrased to wear,to must density(and i asked for a low density) and colour was off,but the hair tech kept telling me how good it looked, luckily i had the system clipped on,so took it off when i got home, never to be worn again.
This forum has been a wealth of information, and i read it all the time to pick up tips, and many thanks to Eric,BA and Debbie for there help to date.
I have learnt the following that maybe helpful:-
The piece doesnt need to be perfect,i have had lots of lace lift, and not placed in the right position on my head, but it still styled and looked okay.People will look at you,and if something doesnt look strange with your hair, they will not take a second look, and they will not pick its a piece.
I tape on my piece, its easier than glue for a newbie, until you learn the ropes.I have an all lace64,taped all around with walker no shine tape.
I have found most people who know i wear, have given compliments or have said nothing.I was out for dinner last night, and my niece asked me about my new hair in front of a group of family members.I played it cool, and told her a bit about the piece,i didnt freak out,so they thought i was cool.
I look at my hair all the time, but its not because im paranoid,im just trying different products and styles,so i like to check to see how my new hair looks, and with time when i learn what looks the best, then i will run with that.
I am always fine tuning, and learning the best way of doing things,so i can have everthing at its best, and finding the easiest way of doing things, and as many have said on this forum,we all find our own way of doing things that suit each of us.
This is what all new wearers should do,give us all an update after 2 weeks to 1 month so we can advise you all.
Topcat like you said buddy you work it out and find what works for you as you go along.
My tip for you is if you are getting lace lift,,make sure the scalp is clean and try different tapes and glues.
all the best to you.
Good idea Vinny..new guys let us know how you are progressing.
Tip for placement is...put a mark on your forehead with the teeth of a comb were the front of the hairline needs to go...apply the unit above that line.
My tip would be,apply the piece in sections making sure all the edge of the lace is down tight before moving to the next section and so on and so on.
Keep us all updated.

Hey There,
Interesting to read your views. Would be interesting to read more of your opinions on wearing, and any tips/hints for us Newbee's to help us follow you into the world of wearing.
I'll be wearing soon, once my order comes and I'll post my experience of wearing and hopefully some pictures too if I can get a camera, lost my old one.
Hope it's working out for you with the wearing, and have a good weekend.

Thanks for the comments and feedback guys, will try the above tips such as marking the forehead with a comb for unit placement, lace clean and dry before attachment and putting down a section of the lace before moving on to the next section.
One of the problems im trying to master is placing the unit and doing the alcohol slide to get it in the right position, unit seems to grab onto my scalp like **** sticks to a blanket, before i can move it(even though i have sprayed the tape with 100% alcohol).I use scalp protector and im trying out the re-adjust that debbie sells thats gives you more time before the alcohol evaporates.
I am happy to post my expiriences of hair wearing,as if it wasnt for all the people who take the time to post with there tips and experience i would be in the dark and really battling to get the hang of things,so thanks to all who take the time to post, and i also enjoy the camaraderie on the forum.
Yes you have to put enough alcohol on it so it will slide around for about 10 to 20 seconds and just a couple pumps of the spray bottle just aint enough.
it's important to use a lesser vol. alcohol when using to adjust......the re-align and the adjust-a-bond is made with 50% isopropyl , using 99% or 100% or even 70% will weaken the bond. you need to use a lesser volume to give you time to adjust without weakening the bond.

What a great write up...I especially agree with the part about people not looking for a hair piece. Units can be pretty bad and people still won't notice. If one has the money and the time one can achive perfection all the time. For those of us who can not buy a new unit every couple months or spend an hours cleaning and reattaching, not to worry, Regular people are just not looking for a hair piece. They "know" one when they see one and we all have seen those as well. No one I have seen on this board would ever fall into that category. We can sometimes spot even the best ones and more often than not ASSUME someone is wearing who isn't LOL because........we walk with a limp and notice how others walk.
