Hi Carmel ... I can certainly relate to you how must have felt having to deal with that ignoramus! I've sent a couple of letters of complaint about certain know-it-all doctors too, and I did not mince my words! LOL Just be careful of libel ... one can say a thing in such a way that it really hits home without putting oneself in the way of harm.
I would certainly complain to the local medical association about your experience with that half-brain, even if it is just to put it on record, but I don't think you will get much sympathy from them, besides another patronizing 'pat on the head.' It really is very sad, and you have all my sympathy and support.
In my opinion, the best kind of doctors are DO's (Doctor of Osteopathy). These doctor's look at a person as a whole, and not just the sum parts. Do some research on the 'net about these doctors, you might be surprised by what you will find.

If you like what you read, see if you can find one in your area rather than going to another GP (even if she is female).
All the best, and please let us know how it goes.
