l-tryptophan while nursing?

Hello Anthea,
I have been reading everything I can find on this site, as well as doing my own research, to find a safe, natural cure for my extremely difficult to live with pmdd. I used to post on another pmdd site but felt discouraged at the number of people who have been using ssri's for so long as treatment for pmdd. I understand that we are each entitled to our own opinions as far as treatment goes, I just felt that I wasn't learning anything helpful there. So, here I am, looking for some advice about taking l-tryptophan while nursing my toddler.
Also, almost everyone I come in contact with (spouse, dr.'s, etc) has been skeptical of the approach I am taking, which is to change my diet, spend time alone each day, get exercise, take a multi-vitamin, use herbal supplements, and continue to make both lifestyle and diet changes. Most of the people around me have been encouraging me to try yet another ssri- I tried celexa and zoloft, both were intolerable.
I have an appointment with a mid-wife who does post-partum as well as pre-natal care later this month. I am hoping she accepts and even embraces my decision to NOT use ssri's to try to overcome my pmdd.
Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
