| Hello. I am now 49 and have been PMDD free for 2 years. This followed many years of going from Dr. to Dr. anti-depressant to anti-depressant, trial to trial, diet to diet - lifestyle change after change - you get the picture. I don't think anyone could have had a worse case. I feel lucky to even be alive.
I finally realilzed it was the increase in progestrone at the end of the menstrual cycle causing the depression. This came about as I hit pre-menopause and began taking estrogen and progestrone - estrogen 21 days, then progestrone 7 for my period. My PMDD symptoms increased 100%. One month I didn't take the progestrone and I was symptom free. Tried it again the next month - same thing. Took the progestrone next month and had full blown PMDD. I did this experiment enough times to KNOW.
Problem is, one can't take estrogen without progestrone due to many dangers, but I did for a year, completely PMDD free, but with much anxiety about the risks.
Finally I ended up at a newrologist's office who took care of the entire problem. The answer was Depakote which I take every day. If you do a web search about depakote, it doesn't say much about it's use for this purpose, but believe me, it works. For me. Has saved my life. | |
