Hi everyone,
Here is a short list of food sources of L-Tryptophan, I recommend eating as much of these foods just before and during your symptomatic time (Tryptophan from food sources will not procure drug interactions as in the case of taking actual supplements of the stuff

)
Tryptophan is particularly plentiful in:
oats
bananas
dried dates
milk (drink warm, not hot, 1 hour before bedtime)
cottage cheese
poultry, especially turkey
fish
peanuts
It is not always easy or inexpensive to obtain Pure Pharmaceutical Grade L-Tryptophan in its supplement form, although there are more and more health sites on the Internet which sells it now. Always remember to ask for "Pure Pharmaceutical Grade L-Tryptophan". If it doesn't say "Pure Pharmaceutical Grade" it is not to be trusted.
Online outlets:
http://www.thecompounder.com/tryptophanagain.html and
http://www.beautynhealth.com/tryptophan/index.htm (This is where I buy my own supplies, so I can only vouch for these two companies).
Alternatively, contact your local compounding pharmacist and ask for more information about L-Tryptophan. L-Tryptophan is available through prescription, and your compounding pharmacist should be able to provide you with a list of prescribing physicians in your area (not all doctors prescribe L-Tryptophan).
All the best,
Anthea
