this sounds exactly like what Dozer had. From the shoulders down, he was almost bald. I had never seen hair fall out like that! He was constantly scratching so the vet scraped for staph. That's what it was. We had Dozer on antibiotics for a month and that cleared it up. He's been fine ever since. Good luck!
