...do braids, too. I've done a lot of camping in my life, and I used to do (and coach) tumbling classes. A good braid with the end folded up and secured keeps the hair in place and under control. I used to braid a rolled-up bandana into my hair and then tie the ends together before tumbling so that I wouldn't whip myself (or anyone else) in the face when I did spins and flips. You probably won't need anything quite that secure, but using a scarf or scrunchie to keep the end up under the braid will probably work better than using bobby pins.
