Some were done like the Retro Twist which is the last post on this page. You sort of flip and pin sections of hair. Once you understand the concepts of this style, you can do so many variations. If you look at the Retro Twist, you'll see how you could change that to three sections, wrapping on the center one around the pony band, then using the tail of that as shown in the instructions and folling the twist and pin with the other two sections. The more sections, the more flips and curls.
